Control buttons labeled 'MODE', left arrow, down arrow, and up arrow are located at the bottom. The Autonics logo is printed at the bottom right.
4. Installation
4.1 Mounting
- Prepare a panel cutout of 45x45 mm (1/16 DIN standard).
- Insert the TC4S-12R unit into the panel cutout from the front.
- Attach the mounting bracket to the rear of the unit and push it forward until it securely holds the controller in place against the panel.
- Ensure sufficient space around the unit for proper ventilation and wiring.
4.2 Environmental Considerations
- Operating Temperature: -10°C to 50°C (14°F to 122°F).
- Operating Humidity: 35% to 85% RH (non-condensing).
- Avoid locations with direct sunlight, radiant heat, or severe temperature changes.
- Avoid locations with strong magnetic fields or electrical noise.
5. Wiring
Ensure all power is OFF before performing any wiring. Incorrect wiring can cause damage to the unit or connected equipment.
5.1 Terminal Layout
Refer to the diagram on the side of the unit for specific terminal assignments. General connections are as follows:
- Power Supply: Connect 24-48 VDC or 24 VAC to the designated power terminals.
- Sensor Input: Connect your thermocouple or RTD sensor to the input terminals. Ensure correct polarity for thermocouples.
- Control Output (Relay): Connect the load to the relay output terminals.
- Control Output (SSR): Connect the Solid State Relay (SSR) to the SSR drive output terminals. Observe polarity.
- Alarm Output: Connect the alarm device to the alarm output terminals.
Note: Use appropriate wire gauges for all connections. Shielded cables are recommended for sensor inputs to minimize noise interference.
6. Setup and Configuration
The TC4S-12R features a user-friendly interface for parameter setting.
6.1 Initial Power-Up
- After completing all wiring, apply power to the unit.
- The display will show the current process value (PV).
6.2 Parameter Setting Mode
- Press the MODE button to enter the parameter setting mode.
- Use the Up (⌃) and Down (⌄) arrow buttons to adjust parameter values.
- Use the Left Arrow («) button to move between digits when setting numerical values.
- Press MODE again to save the setting and move to the next parameter.
- To exit the parameter setting mode, cycle through all parameters or hold the MODE button for a few seconds.
6.3 Key Parameters
- SV (Set Value): The desired temperature setpoint.
- Input Type: Select the type of sensor connected (e.g., K-type thermocouple, Pt100 RTD).
- Control Mode: PID control is the primary mode. Auto-tuning can be initiated from here.
- Alarm Type: Configure the alarm function (e.g., high limit, low limit, deviation).
- Output Type: Confirm the configured output (Relay or SSR).
Refer to the detailed parameter list in the full product manual for advanced settings and their descriptions.
7. Operating Instructions
Once configured, the TC4S-12R operates automatically to maintain the set temperature.
7.1 Monitoring
- The main display continuously shows the current process value (PV).
- The OUT indicator illuminates when the control output is active.
- The AL1 indicator illuminates when the alarm condition is met.
7.2 Adjusting Set Value (SV)
- In normal operating mode, press the Up (⌃) or Down (⌄) arrow buttons to directly adjust the Set Value (SV).
- The display will briefly show "SV" and the new set value.
- The controller will automatically begin to regulate the temperature to the new SV.
8. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of the unit.
- Cleaning: Wipe the display and casing with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Inspection: Periodically check wiring connections for looseness or damage.
- Environment: Ensure the operating environment remains within specified conditions (temperature, humidity, dust).
Caution: Disconnect power before any cleaning or inspection that involves touching internal components or wiring.
9. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with the TC4S-12R.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
