Setup and Installation

The Speller 5730 LED Module Lights are designed for straightforward installation.

  1. Prepare the Surface: Ensure the installation surface is clean, dry, and smooth for optimal adhesion of the self-adhesive tape.
  2. Plan Layout: Determine the desired layout for your LED modules. The string can be cut between any 3-LED module to achieve the required length. Each module is connected by wires, allowing for flexible spacing.

  4. Electrical Connection:
    • Connect the red wire(s) from the LED modules to the positive (+) terminal of a 12V DC power supply.
    • Connect the white wire(s) from the LED modules to the negative (-) terminal of the 12V DC power supply.
    • Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated, especially for outdoor use, to maintain the IP67 waterproof rating of the modules themselves.

Important: A 12V DC power supply is essential and must be purchased separately. The power supply should be rated appropriately for the total wattage of the connected LED modules (e.g., 20 modules x 0.4W/module = 8W total).

  5. Test: Once all connections are made, connect the 12V DC power supply to a power outlet to test the lights.

Operation

Once properly installed and connected to a 12V DC power supply, the LED modules will illuminate when the power supply is active. There is no separate switch on the modules themselves. Operation is controlled by the power supply or any switch integrated into your power circuit.

Maintenance

The Speller 5730 LED Module Lights are designed for long-term, low-maintenance operation.

  • Cleaning: If necessary, gently wipe the modules with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure power is disconnected before cleaning.
  • Connection Check: Periodically inspect electrical connections for any signs of wear, corrosion, or loosening, especially in outdoor or high-vibration environments.
  • Adhesion Check: For modules installed with adhesive tape, periodically check that they remain firmly attached to the surface.

Troubleshooting

If your LED modules are not functioning as expected, consider the following:

  • No Light:
    • Ensure the 12V DC power supply is correctly connected and receiving power.
    • Verify that the red wire is connected to positive (+) and the white wire to negative (-). Incorrect polarity will prevent illumination.
    • Check all wire connections for looseness or damage.
    • Confirm the power supply is functioning correctly and providing 12V DC output.
  • Flickering Lights:
    • This can indicate an unstable power supply or loose connections. Check the power supply and all wiring.
    • Ensure the power supply wattage is sufficient for the total number of connected modules.
  • Partial Illumination:
    • If only a section of modules is not lighting up, check the connections specifically in that area.
    • Individual modules can be cut and replaced if damaged, as they operate independently in groups of three LEDs.
