2. Setup and First Use
Before using your Hamilton Beach 4-in-1 MultiGrill for the first time, please follow these steps:
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the grill and all accessories from the packaging. Ensure all components are present: the main unit, one grill plate, one upper griddle plate, and one lower griddle plate.
- Initial Cleaning: Wash the removable grill and griddle plates, and the drip tray in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. The plates are also dishwasher safe for convenience. Wipe the exterior of the main unit with a damp cloth.
- Inserting Plates: To insert a plate, align the tabs on the back of the plate with the slots on the grill base. Press down firmly until the plate clicks into place. Repeat for the other plate. Ensure the drip tray is properly inserted into the front of the unit.
- Placement: Place the grill on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from walls and cabinets, to allow for proper ventilation. Ensure the power cord is not touching any hot surfaces.

3. Operating the Grill
The Hamilton Beach 4-in-1 MultiGrill offers versatile cooking options:
General Operation:
- Temperature Control: Use the adjustable temperature dial on the front of the unit to select your desired cooking temperature, up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Indicator Lights: The 'Power' light illuminates when the unit is plugged in. The 'Preheat' light will turn on when the unit is heating and turn off when the selected temperature is reached, indicating it's ready for cooking.
- Drip Tray: Always ensure the drip tray is in place to collect excess grease and liquids during cooking.

Cooking Modes:
This appliance offers four distinct cooking configurations:
- Indoor Grill (Closed): Ideal for grilling burgers, chicken, paninis, and sandwiches. Use the grill plates and close the lid for even cooking on both sides.
- Double Griddle (Open Flat): Open the unit 180 degrees to create a large, flat cooking surface. Perfect for pancakes, eggs, French toast, and other breakfast items. Ensure both griddle plates are installed.
- Grill/Griddle Combo (Open Flat): With the unit open 180 degrees, use one grill plate and one griddle plate simultaneously. This allows you to grill meats or vegetables on one side while cooking other items on the griddle.
- Bacon Cooker: For mess-free, crispy bacon, flip the kickstand located on the side of the unit to elevate the grill. This allows for better grease drainage into the drip tray. Use the griddle plates for this function.

- Cleaning Plates and Drip Tray: The nonstick cooking plates and drip tray are dishwasher safe. For hand washing, use warm, soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge. Do not use steel wool or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the nonstick coating.
- Cleaning Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the main unit with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water or any other liquid.
- Storage: Once clean and dry, store the grill in a cool, dry place. The plates can be stored inside the unit.
