Setup Guide
1. Unpacking and Initial Setup
- Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all parts listed in the included components section are present.
- Install 4 AA batteries (not included) into the outdoor 5-in-1 sensor.
- Connect the power adapter to the indoor display unit and plug it into a power outlet.
- The indoor display and outdoor sensor should automatically connect. Allow a few minutes for the initial data synchronization.
2. Outdoor Sensor Placement
Proper placement of the 5-in-1 outdoor sensor is crucial for accurate readings. Choose a location that is:
- Open and Unobstructed: Ensure there are no large trees, buildings, or other obstructions that could block wind flow to the anemometer and wind vane, or interfere with rainfall collection.
- Elevated: Mount the sensor at least 5 feet (1.5 meters) off the ground for optimal wind and rain readings.
- Level: Use the integrated bubble level on the sensor to ensure it is perfectly level for accurate rainfall measurement.
- Away from Heat Sources: Avoid placing the sensor near heat-emitting surfaces like concrete or asphalt, which can affect temperature readings.
- Within Range: Ensure the sensor is within the wireless range of the indoor display unit.

Maintenance
Battery Replacement
The outdoor 5-in-1 sensor requires 4 AA batteries (not included) and has an estimated 2-year battery life. Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the indoor display. Always use fresh, high-quality alkaline or lithium batteries.
Sensor Cleaning
Periodically inspect the outdoor sensor for debris, especially in the rain gauge funnel and wind cups. Clear any leaves, dirt, or insects to ensure accurate readings. The solar panel on the sensor should also be kept clean to maintain optimal performance.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your AcuRite Iris Weather Station, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Data on Display:
- Ensure both the outdoor sensor and indoor display have fresh batteries installed correctly.
- Verify the outdoor sensor is within wireless range of the indoor display.
- Check for any strong electronic interference near either unit.
- Inaccurate Readings:
- Confirm the outdoor sensor is placed in an open, unobstructed, and level location, away from direct heat sources.
- Clean the rain gauge funnel and wind cups/vane of any debris.
- Allow up to 14 days for the self-calibrating forecast to become accurate as it learns your local environment.
- PC Connect Issues:
- Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the display and the PC.
- Verify the PC is powered on and has a stable internet connection.
- Check My AcuRite software or Weather Underground settings for proper configuration.
