SunTek 68" UV Protection Wind Cheater Vented Canopy Umbrella User Manual

Model: UWCUV2 | Brand: SunTek

Introduction

The SunTek 68" Windcheater Umbrella is designed to provide superior protection from both harmful UV rays and adverse weather conditions. Its innovative design ensures comfort and durability, making it suitable for various outdoor activities, including golf, beach outings, and general use in sun or rain.

Key features include a silver-coated double canopy for UV reflection, a Vortec Venting System to prevent inversion in strong winds, and a robust fiberglass shaft and ribs for enhanced safety and lightweight construction.

Safety Information

  • Lightning Safety: While the fiberglass shaft and ribs offer some safety in the event of a lightning storm, it is always recommended to seek immediate shelter indoors during electrical storms. Do not rely solely on the umbrella for lightning protection.
  • Wind Conditions: The Vortec Venting System is designed to resist strong winds and prevent inversion. However, in extreme wind conditions, it is advisable to close the umbrella to prevent damage or injury.
  • Handling: Always ensure a firm grip on the ergonomic handle when opening or closing the umbrella, especially in windy conditions.

Setup

The SunTek 68" Windcheater Umbrella comes pre-assembled and requires minimal setup before first use. Simply remove it from its matching storage sleeve.

  3. Press the button to release the canopy. The umbrella will spring open. Ensure there is adequate clear space around you when opening.

Closing the Umbrella

  2. Gently pull down the runner along the shaft until it locks into place, securing the canopy in a closed position.

The umbrella's silver coating provides 50+ UPF protection, blocking 99% of UVA and UVB rays, while the Vortec Venting System allows wind to pass through, maintaining stability in gusty conditions.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: To clean the canopy, wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Drying: Always allow the umbrella to air dry completely in an open position before closing and storing. This prevents mildew and preserves the fabric's integrity.
  • Storage: Store the umbrella in its matching sleeve in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid storing in direct sunlight for extended periods.

Troubleshooting

  • Umbrella not opening/closing smoothly: Ensure no fabric is caught in the mechanism. Apply a small amount of silicone spray to the shaft if resistance persists.
  • Canopy inverts in wind: While the Vortec Venting System is designed to prevent this, extreme gusts can still cause inversion. Re-invert the canopy gently and consider closing the umbrella in very high winds.
  • Water leakage: Check the canopy for any tears or punctures. Ensure the umbrella is fully open when in use to maintain proper tension and water runoff.
