Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of CTKcom 500-Watt 4.7-Inch J Type T3 Halogen Bulbs. These double-ended T3 halogen bulbs are designed for various applications, including ceiling lights, table/desk/floor lamps, cabinet lighting, closet lights, and outdoor floodlights. Please read all instructions carefully before use.

Important Safety Information

Halogen bulbs operate at high temperatures and require careful handling to prevent injury and ensure bulb longevity. Adhere to the following safety guidelines:

  • Installation: Always turn off the power supply before installing or replacing bulbs. Use a clean cloth or plastic sleeve to protect the bulb glass from direct contact. Do not touch the glass with bare hands. Oils from your skin can cause hot spots, leading to premature failure or breakage of the quartz glass. If touched, clean with alcohol.
  • Orientation: The halogen bulb must be installed in a horizontal position when operating, with an inclination not exceeding 5 degrees. Incorrect orientation can cause tungsten molecules to accumulate at one end of the filament, thinning the filament and significantly reducing bulb life.
  • Fragility: The filament of a halogen bulb is delicate. Avoid violent vibration or impact during handling and installation.
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation around the bulb. When lit, the temperature at the bulb's seal should not exceed 350°C (662°F). Excessive heat can shorten the bulb's lifespan.
  • High Temperature: Halogen bulbs become extremely hot during operation and remain hot for some time after being turned off. Never touch a hot bulb with bare hands. Allow sufficient time for the bulb to cool before handling.
  • Clearance: Maintain a minimum distance of 1 meter (approximately 3.3 feet) between the lamp and any combustible materials to prevent fire hazards.

Setup and Installation

  1. Power Off: Before attempting any installation or replacement, ensure the power supply to the fixture is completely turned off at the circuit breaker.
  2. Cool Down: If replacing an existing bulb, allow the old bulb to cool down completely before touching it.
  3. Handle with Care: Wear gloves or use a clean cloth/plastic sleeve to handle the new halogen bulb. Avoid direct contact with the glass to prevent oil residue from affecting performance and lifespan.
  4. Remove Old Bulb: Carefully remove the old bulb from its R7S base.
  5. Insert New Bulb: Align the pins of the new CTKcom T3 halogen bulb with the R7S sockets in your fixture. Gently push the bulb into place until it is securely seated. Ensure the bulb is installed horizontally.
  6. Clean Bulb (if necessary): If you accidentally touched the glass, gently wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol.
  7. Restore Power: Once the bulb is securely installed and clean, restore power to the fixture.
