Fotodiox Pro MD-GFX-Pro Lens Mount Adapter Instruction Manual

For Minolta MD Lenses to Fujifilm GFX G-Mount Cameras

Introduction

The Fotodiox Pro MD-GFX-Pro Lens Mount Adapter allows you to mount Minolta Rokkor (SR / MD / MC) SLR lenses onto Fujifilm GFX G-Mount medium format mirrorless cameras. This adapter is designed with enhanced craftsmanship and high-tolerance construction to ensure a precise fit and solid connection between your lens and camera body. It guarantees infinity focus or beyond, providing versatility for photographers utilizing vintage glass with modern digital camera systems.

Important Note: This is a manual adapter. Lens functions that rely on electronic communication with the camera body, such as autofocus, automatic exposure (AE) metering, and image stabilization, will not function. Exposure must be set manually or by using your camera's Aperture Priority (stop-down) mode. If your lens lacks a manual aperture control ring, it will default to its smallest f-stop.

3. Camera Settings

Before use, ensure your Fujifilm GFX camera is set to allow shooting without a lens. This setting is typically found in the camera's menu under "SHOOTING SETTING" or "BUTTON/DIAL SETTING" and is often labeled "SHOOT WITHOUT LENS" or "RELEASE SHUTTER WITHOUT LENS". Set this option to "ON".

Operating Instructions

Operating with a manual adapter requires adjustments to your shooting workflow.

Focusing

  • Focus your lens manually by rotating the focus ring on your Minolta MD lens.
  • Utilize your camera's focus peaking and magnification features for precise manual focusing.

Exposure Control

  • Aperture: Adjust the aperture directly on your Minolta MD lens's aperture ring. The adapter does not transmit aperture information to the camera.
  • Metering: Use your camera in Aperture Priority (A) mode or Manual (M) mode.
    • In Aperture Priority mode, the camera will automatically select the shutter speed based on the aperture you set on the lens.
    • In Manual mode, you will need to set both the aperture on the lens and the shutter speed on the camera.
  • ISO: Adjust ISO as needed to achieve correct exposure.

Limitations

  • No electronic communication between lens and camera.
  • Autofocus is not supported.
  • Automatic exposure (AE) metering is not supported; use Aperture Priority or Manual mode.
  • Image stabilization (if present on the lens) will not function.
  • Wide-angle 35mm lenses (lenses wider than 50mm) may exhibit vignetting when used on Fujifilm GFX 50S cameras.

Maintenance

Proper care will ensure the longevity and performance of your lens mount adapter.

  • Keep the adapter clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior.
  • Avoid touching the mounting surfaces to prevent scratches or contamination.
  • Store the adapter in a dry, cool place when not in use, preferably with both caps attached to prevent dust ingress.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials for cleaning.
