Maintenance
The Testo 552 is designed with a maintenance-free Pirani sensor, minimizing the need for regular sensor cleaning or calibration. However, proper care of the device is essential for its longevity and accuracy.
- Cleaning: Wipe the device with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the device in a dry, clean environment within the specified storage temperature range (-4.0° to 122.0 °F / -20 to +50 °C).
- Connections: Regularly inspect the 7/16" UNF connections for any signs of wear or damage. Ensure they are clean and free of debris before each use to maintain a proper seal.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Use 2 x AA batteries.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Testo 552, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Inaccurate Readings:
- Check all hose connections for leaks. Even minor leaks can significantly affect vacuum readings.
- Ensure the system being evacuated is properly sealed.
- Verify that the vacuum pump is functioning correctly and capable of pulling the required vacuum level.
- Device Not Powering On:
- Check battery levels and replace if necessary.
- Ensure batteries are inserted with correct polarity.
- Bluetooth Connectivity Issues:
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both the Testo 552 and your mobile device.
- Confirm that you are using the correct "Testo Smart Probes App".
- Try restarting both the Testo 552 and your mobile device.
- Ensure your mobile device meets the minimum system requirements (iOS 8.3+ or Android 4.3+ with Bluetooth 4.0).
- Slow Evacuation:
- This may indicate moisture or non-condensable gases in the system. Continue evacuation until the target micron level is stable.
- Check the vacuum pump oil and ensure it is clean and at the correct level.
