Setup and Installation
Before you begin, ensure you have the necessary tools: adjustable wrench, plumber's putty or silicone sealant, screwdriver, and a basin wrench (if needed).
- Prepare the Sink: Turn off the hot and cold water supply valves under the sink. If replacing an old faucet, remove it and clean the sink surface thoroughly.
- Install the Faucet: Place the faucet body through the single hole in the sink or countertop. Ensure the gasket or escutcheon (if included) is properly seated on the sink surface. From underneath the sink, secure the faucet using the provided mounting hardware (washer and mounting nut). Tighten firmly but do not overtighten.
- Connect Water Supply Lines: Attach the hot and cold water supply lines to the corresponding inlets on the faucet. Connect the other ends of the supply lines to the hot and cold water supply valves. Use an adjustable wrench to tighten connections, ensuring a watertight seal. Do not overtighten.
- Install the Drain Assembly: Apply a thin bead of plumber's putty or silicone sealant around the flange of the drain body. Insert the drain body into the sink drain hole. From underneath, attach the rubber washer, friction washer, and mounting nut to the drain body and tighten securely. Connect the P-trap to the drain tailpiece.
- Test for Leaks: Once all connections are made, slowly turn on the hot and cold water supply valves. Check all connections for leaks. If leaks are present, tighten the connections slightly until the leak stops.
Operating Instructions
The Gerber Viper Lavatory Faucet features a single lever handle for controlling water flow and temperature, and a metal touch-down drain.
- Water Flow and Temperature: Lift the single lever handle to turn on the water. Move the handle left for hot water and right for cold water. Adjust the handle's position to achieve the desired temperature and flow rate.
- Touch Down Drain: To close the drain and fill the sink, simply press down on the drain stopper. To open the drain and allow water to flow out, press down on the stopper again.
Maintenance
Proper care and cleaning will help maintain the finish and performance of your Gerber faucet.
- Cleaning: Clean the faucet regularly with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Rinse thoroughly with water and dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots.
- Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Do not use abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or scouring pads, as these can damage the chrome finish.
- Aerator Maintenance: If water flow decreases, the aerator may be clogged. Unscrew the aerator from the spout, clean any debris, and rinse it before reattaching.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Low Water Flow | Clogged aerator; partially closed supply valves. | Clean the aerator. Ensure supply valves are fully open. |
| Leaking at Base of Faucet | Loose mounting nut; improper gasket seating. | Tighten mounting nut. Re-seat gasket if necessary. |
| Leaking from Handle | Worn cartridge. | Contact Gerber customer support for a replacement cartridge. |
| Drain Not Sealing Properly | Debris in drain; improper installation of drain assembly. | Clear debris from drain. Re-check drain assembly installation. |
