Understanding Aerator Sizes

Cache aerators are designed to be hidden within the faucet spout. Identifying the correct size is crucial for proper fit and function. This pack includes four common sizes, each identifiable by its corresponding key and approximate diameter.

  • Standard (M24 x 1): Typically the largest, often found in kitchen faucets.
  • Junior (M21.5 x 1): A common size for bathroom faucets.
  • Tiny Junior (M18.5 x 1): Smaller bathroom or specialty faucets.
  • Tom Thumb (M16.5 x 1): The smallest size, used in compact or designer faucets.

Note for Delta Faucet Models: For Delta faucet models 2551, 3551, 4551 (500, 501, 502, 511, 515, 516, 520, 522, 523, 540, 541, 542, 544 DST), 119/319/419 (DST & non-DST models), and 155/156 (DST models), as well as model 4380, a Junior size aerator and Junior Size Wrench are typically required. A Junior size can also convert 2.2 gpm to 1.5 gpm on Talbott, Pilar Waterfall, and Victorian Single models.

Setup and Installation

Installing the Neoperl Cache Aerator is a straightforward process. Ensure you have the correct size aerator and its corresponding Neoperl mounting key before beginning.

  1. Identify Current Aerator Size: If replacing an existing cache aerator, use the provided keys to determine which one fits your current aerator. This will indicate the size you need for replacement. If unsure, try each key until one engages properly.
  2. Remove Old Aerator (if applicable): Insert the appropriate Neoperl mounting key into the slots of the existing cache aerator. Turn the key counter-clockwise to unscrew and remove the old aerator.
  3. Clean Faucet Spout: Gently clean any debris or mineral buildup from the inside of the faucet spout where the aerator sits.
  4. Insert New Aerator: Select the new Neoperl cache aerator of the correct size. Ensure the rubber gasket is properly seated on the aerator.
  5. Install New Aerator: Insert the new aerator into the faucet spout. Use the corresponding Neoperl mounting key to gently turn the aerator clockwise until it is snug. Do not overtighten, as this can damage the aerator or faucet threads.
  6. Test for Leaks: Turn on the water supply and check for any leaks around the aerator. If leaks occur, ensure the aerator is properly seated and tightened.

Operation

Once installed, the Neoperl Laminar Stream Cache Aerator operates automatically. It will provide a consistent 1.0 gpm laminar (non-aerated) water flow whenever the faucet is turned on. The pressure compensating feature ensures the flow rate remains stable across varying water pressures.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal performance and longevity of your aerator.

  • Cleaning: Periodically remove the aerator using the appropriate key and rinse it under running water to remove any loose debris.
  • Mineral Buildup: If water flow becomes restricted or uneven, mineral deposits may have accumulated. Soak the aerator in a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water for a few hours (or overnight for heavy buildup). Use a soft brush to gently scrub away any remaining deposits. Rinse thoroughly before reinstallation.
  • Inspection: Inspect the rubber gasket for any signs of wear or damage. Replace the aerator if the gasket is compromised or if the aerator itself is cracked.
