1. Introduction and Overview

The Technoline WT 486 is a radio-controlled alarm clock designed for reliable timekeeping and versatile alarm functions. It features an AM/FM radio with station memory, dual programmable alarms, a snooze function, and a sleep timer. The large green digital display offers excellent readability and adjustable brightness for comfortable viewing in any environment.

3. Setup

3.1 Power Connection

Connect the provided power adapter to the DC input port on the back of the alarm clock and then plug it into a standard wall outlet. The display will illuminate.

3.2 Backup Battery Installation

Locate the battery compartment on the bottom or back of the unit. Insert one CR2032 battery, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-). This battery serves as a backup to retain time and alarm settings during a power outage.

3.3 Initial Time Synchronization

Upon initial power-up, the clock will automatically attempt to synchronize its time with the radio-controlled signal. This process may take several minutes. Ensure the clock is placed away from electronic interference for optimal reception. The radio signal icon (often resembling a Wi-Fi symbol) on the display will indicate successful synchronization.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Time Display Format (12/24 Hour)

Press the "TIME SET" button (or similar, refer to physical buttons on your device) to toggle between 12-hour and 24-hour time display formats. In 12-hour format, "AM" or "PM" indicators will appear.

4.2 Setting Alarms (A1, A2)

The clock features two independent alarms, A1 and A2.

1. Press and hold the "ALARM 1" or "ALARM 2" button until the alarm time flashes on the display.
2. Use the "HOUR" and "MINUTE" buttons to adjust the desired alarm time.
3. Press the "ALARM 1" or "ALARM 2" button again to confirm the time.
4. Repeatedly press the "ALARM 1" or "ALARM 2" button to cycle through alarm modes: Daily, Weekdays (Mon-Fri), Weekend (Sat-Sun), or One-Time. The corresponding indicator will light up.
5. To activate/deactivate an alarm, press the respective "ALARM" button briefly. A small indicator (A1 or A2) will appear on the display when the alarm is active.

4.3 Snooze Function

When an alarm sounds, press the "SNOOZE" button (usually a large button on top) to temporarily silence the alarm for approximately 9 minutes. The alarm will sound again after the snooze period. To turn off the alarm completely, press any other button.

4.4 AM/FM Radio Operation

The WT 486 includes an integrated AM/FM radio.

• Turning On/Off: Press the "RADIO" button to turn the radio on or off.
• Band Selection: Press the "BAND" button to switch between AM and FM frequencies.
• Tuning: Use the "TUNE +" or "TUNE -" buttons to manually adjust the frequency. Press and hold these buttons for automatic station scanning.
• Station Memory: To save a station, tune to the desired frequency, then press and hold the "MEM" button. Use the "TUNE +" or "TUNE -" buttons to select a preset number, then press "MEM" again to confirm. To recall a saved station, briefly press the "MEM" button and then use "TUNE +" or "TUNE -" to select the preset.
• Volume Control: Use the "VOL +" and "VOL -" buttons to adjust the volume. There are 16 volume levels.

4.5 Sleep Timer

The sleep timer allows the radio to play for a set duration before automatically turning off.

1. While the radio is playing, press the "SLEEP" button. The sleep timer duration will appear on the display.
2. Repeatedly press the "SLEEP" button to cycle through available sleep timer durations (e.g., 10, 20, 30, 60, 90 minutes, or OFF).
3. The radio will automatically turn off after the selected time. The "SL" indicator on the display will show when the sleep timer is active.

4.6 Display Brightness Adjustment

The display brightness is continuously dimmable. Locate the "DIMMER" dial or button (refer to your device's physical controls). Rotate the dial or press the button repeatedly to adjust the display brightness to your preferred level.

• Cleaning: Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Battery Replacement: Replace the CR2032 backup battery annually or when the clock fails to retain settings during a power outage. Dispose of used batteries responsibly.
