1. Introduction

4. Setup

4.1 Hardware Connection

  1. Connect the provided USB cable from the iKeyboard 5X's USB port to an available USB port on your computer.
  2. The iKeyboard 5X is USB bus-powered. Ensure your computer's USB port provides sufficient power.
  3. For optimal performance, especially with extensive use or if experiencing power issues, consider using an optional external power adapter (not included).

4.2 Software Installation and Configuration

  1. The iKeyboard 5X is class-compliant and typically does not require specific drivers for macOS (Big Sur, M1 and Intel Compatible) or Windows (10, 8/7, 32 & 64-bit).
  2. Install your preferred Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software (e.g., Cubase LE, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Nuendo, Samplitude, Studio One).
  3. Open your DAW and navigate to its MIDI or Controller settings.
  4. Select the iKeyboard 5X as a MIDI input device. For DAW control, configure it to use Mackie Control or HUI protocols, as supported by your DAW.
  5. Download and install the iMap software from the ICON Pro Audio website. This utility allows for custom mapping of controls and firmware updates.
  6. Register your product to access bundled recording software, including Harrison 32C Vocal Intensity Processor, Tracktion DAW Essentials, Dotec Audio plugins, and Bitwig Studio 8-Track.

5.3 Custom Mapping with iMap Software

The iMap software, available for download from the ICON Pro Audio website, allows you to customize the MIDI assignments of all controls on the iKeyboard 5X. This enables you to tailor the controller's functionality to any specific MIDI application or workflow beyond the default DAW presets.
