4. Setup
4.1 Hardware Connection
- Connect the provided USB cable from the iKeyboard 5X's USB port to an available USB port on your computer.
- The iKeyboard 5X is USB bus-powered. Ensure your computer's USB port provides sufficient power.
- For optimal performance, especially with extensive use or if experiencing power issues, consider using an optional external power adapter (not included).

4.2 Software Installation and Configuration
- The iKeyboard 5X is class-compliant and typically does not require specific drivers for macOS (Big Sur, M1 and Intel Compatible) or Windows (10, 8/7, 32 & 64-bit).
- Install your preferred Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software (e.g., Cubase LE, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Nuendo, Samplitude, Studio One).
- Open your DAW and navigate to its MIDI or Controller settings.
- Select the iKeyboard 5X as a MIDI input device. For DAW control, configure it to use Mackie Control or HUI protocols, as supported by your DAW.

5. Operating Instructions

- Semi-Weighted Keys: Play the 49 full-sized keys to input MIDI notes. The semi-weighted action provides a responsive feel for various musical expressions.
- Pitch Bend Wheel: Use the pitch bend wheel to smoothly alter the pitch of notes up or down.
- Modulation Wheel: The modulation wheel can be assigned to control various parameters such as vibrato, filter cutoff, or other effects within your software instruments.
- Octave Buttons: Use the "Octave Up" and "Octave Down" buttons to shift the keyboard's pitch range by octaves.
- Transpose Buttons: Use the "Transpose Up" and "Transpose Down" buttons to shift the keyboard's pitch range by semitones.

- Touch Fader: The backlit LED touch fader controls levels and other parameters within your DAW. It provides real-time feedback and automatically synchronizes with different channel values when switching tracks.
- Mute, Solo, Rec Buttons: These buttons correspond to the mute, solo, and record arm functions of the selected track in your DAW.
- Track/Bank Selection: Use the dedicated buttons to navigate between tracks or banks of tracks in your DAW.
- Transport Controls: The dedicated transport section includes buttons for Play, Stop, Record, Loop, and various automation modes, allowing for hands-on control of your DAW's playback and recording functions.
