2. Getting Started

2.1 Charging Your Device

Before first use, fully charge your Fitbit Alta HR. A full charge can take approximately 1-2 hours. The device features a quick-charge capability, allowing for significant battery life with short charging times.

2.2 Attaching the Bands

The Fitbit Alta HR comes with interchangeable bands. To attach or remove a band, locate the small levers on the underside of the tracker where the band connects. Slide the lever to release the band, then align the new band and slide the lever back to secure it.

2.3 Initial Setup with the Fitbit App

To get the most out of your Fitbit Alta HR, download the Fitbit app on your smartphone or tablet. Follow the on-screen instructions within the app to create an account, pair your device, and set up your personal profile. This will enable data synchronization and access to all features.

3. Using Your Fitbit Alta HR

3.1 Navigating the Display

Tap the display to cycle through your daily stats, including time, steps, distance, calories burned, and active minutes. The display is bright and clear for easy readability.

3.2 Heart Rate Monitoring

The Alta HR uses PurePulse® heart rate technology to provide continuous, automatic wrist-based heart rate tracking. This allows you to monitor your heart rate zones (Fat Burn, Cardio, Peak) during workouts and track your resting heart rate over time.

4. Care and Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean your Alta HR band and tracker, especially after workouts or prolonged wear. Use a mild, soap-free cleanser and rinse thoroughly. Ensure the device is completely dry before wearing it again.
  • Water Resistance: The Fitbit Alta HR is water resistant up to 50 meters, making it suitable for showering and swimming. However, it is not recommended for hot tubs or saunas. Always dry your tracker and band after getting them wet.
  • Charging: Charge your device when the battery indicator is low. Avoid overcharging for extended periods.
  • Storage: Store your Alta HR in a cool, dry place when not in use.

5. Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Device Not Responding: If your Alta HR is unresponsive, try restarting it. Connect the tracker to its charging cable, then press the button on the charging cable three times within eight seconds. The Fitbit logo will appear on the screen, indicating a successful restart.
  • Syncing Issues: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone/tablet and the Fitbit app is open. If issues persist, try restarting both your device and the Alta HR.
  • Inaccurate Heart Rate: Ensure the tracker is worn snugly on your wrist, about a finger's width above your wrist bone. Clean the back of the tracker regularly to ensure good sensor contact.
  • Battery Draining Quickly: Reduce the frequency of notifications or continuous heart rate monitoring if battery life is a concern. Ensure the device is fully charged using the provided charging cable.
