Mobiclinic S220 Seville Steel Folding Wheelchair User Manual

Brand: Mobiclinic | Model: S220 Seville

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Mobiclinic S220 Seville Steel Folding Wheelchair. This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use, assembly, operation, and maintenance of your wheelchair. Please read these instructions carefully before initial use and retain them for future reference.

This folding wheelchair is designed to provide mobility assistance for individuals, offering functionality, comfort, and ease of transport for both indoor and outdoor environments.

2. Safety Information

  • Maximum User Weight: Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity of 110 kg (242 lbs).
  • Always engage the brakes when transferring in or out of the wheelchair, or when stationary.
  • Ensure all components are securely fastened before each use.
  • Avoid sudden movements or leaning excessively, which could cause the wheelchair to tip.
  • Be aware of your surroundings and avoid obstacles, uneven surfaces, or steep inclines.
  • Regularly inspect the wheelchair for any signs of wear or damage. Do not use if damaged.

3. Setup and Assembly

3.1 Unfolding the Wheelchair

  1. Place the folded wheelchair on a flat, stable surface.
  2. Grasp the armrests and gently pull them apart until the seat fabric is taut and the frame is fully extended.
  3. Press down firmly on the seat rails until they lock into place, ensuring the wheelchair is stable.

3.2 Attaching and Adjusting Footrests

The footrests are designed to be easily removable and height-adjustable for user comfort and easier transfers.

  • Attachment: Align the footrest pins with the receiving tubes on the wheelchair frame. Push down until they click securely into place.
  • Removal: To remove, lift the release lever on the side of the footrest hanger and pull the footrest upwards and outwards. This reduces the wheelchair's weight and size for transport.
  • Height Adjustment: Loosen the adjustment knob on the footrest post, slide the footrest to the desired height, and then tighten the knob securely. Ensure both footrests are at the same height.

3.3 Quick Release Wheels

The large rear wheels feature a Quick Release system for easy removal, which is beneficial for transport and storage.

  • Removal: Press the button located in the center of the wheel hub and pull the wheel outwards from the axle.
  • Re-attachment: Align the wheel axle with the hub on the wheelchair frame, press the button, and push the wheel firmly onto the axle until it locks into place. Ensure the wheel is securely attached before use.

4. Operating the Wheelchair

4.1 Using the Brakes

The wheelchair is equipped with brakes on the rear wheels for safety and stability.

  • To Lock Wheels: Pull the brake lever forward until it clicks into the locked position. Ensure both brakes are engaged.
  • To Unlock Wheels: Pull the brake lever backward to release the lock.
  • Always engage the brakes when the wheelchair is stationary, especially during transfers or when parking on an incline.

4.2 Self-Propelling

To move the wheelchair, grasp the handrims on the large rear wheels and push them forward. Use both hands for smooth, controlled movement. To turn, push one handrim more than the other.

4.3 Folding for Transport and Storage

The wheelchair can be easily folded for convenient transport and compact storage.

  1. Ensure the brakes are engaged.
  2. Remove the footrests (refer to Section 3.2).
  3. Grasp the center of the seat fabric and pull upwards. The wheelchair frame will begin to collapse inwards.
  4. Continue pulling until the wheelchair is fully folded.
  5. For even more compact storage, the rear wheels can be removed (refer to Section 3.3).

  • Wheel Inspection: Regularly check the wheels for debris, wear, or damage. Ensure the solid rubber tires are intact.
  • Brake Check: Test the brakes regularly to ensure they engage and disengage properly and hold the wheelchair securely.
  • Fasteners: Periodically check all nuts, bolts, and screws for tightness. Tighten if necessary.
  • Storage: Store the wheelchair in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Wheelchair not moving smoothly: Check for debris in the wheels or axles. Ensure brakes are fully disengaged.
