  • Placement: Avoid placing nodes near large metal objects, concrete walls, or other electronic devices that may cause interference.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Linksys Velop system, try the following troubleshooting steps.

5.1 Common Issues and Solutions

  • No Internet Connection (Solid Red Light):
    • Check if your modem is working correctly. Restart your modem by unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in.
    • Ensure the Ethernet cable from the primary Velop node is securely connected to your modem.
    • Restart the primary Velop node by unplugging its power adapter for 10 seconds and plugging it back in.
  • Weak Signal or Dropped Connections (Pulsing Red/Solid Yellow Light):
    • Relocate the affected Velop node closer to another working node or the primary node.
    • Ensure there are no major obstructions (thick walls, large appliances) between the nodes.
    • Check for sources of interference, such as cordless phones, microwaves, or Bluetooth devices, and move them away from the nodes.
    • Restart the problematic node.
  • Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi Network:
    • Verify you are entering the correct Wi-Fi password (case-sensitive).
    • Ensure your device's Wi-Fi is enabled.
    • Restart your device and try connecting again.
    • If the issue persists, try restarting all Velop nodes.
  • Slow Internet Speed:
    • Run a speed test using the Linksys App to determine if the issue is with your internet service provider or your local network.
    • Ensure your Velop nodes are optimally placed for maximum coverage and signal strength.
    • Check for any devices consuming large amounts of bandwidth (e.g., streaming 4K video, large downloads) and consider prioritizing other devices via the Linksys App.
    • Update your Velop system's firmware.

5.2 Factory Reset

A factory reset will erase all custom settings and return the Velop node to its default factory state. This should be a last resort for troubleshooting.

  1. With the node powered on, locate the reset button on the bottom of the unit (refer to Figure 2).
  2. Using a paperclip or a thin object, press and hold the reset button for approximately 10 seconds until the light on top of the node turns red and then fades out.
  3. Release the button. The node will restart and return to its factory default settings. You will need to set it up again using the Linksys App.
