The Tetra Whisper IQ Power Filter is designed to maintain clean and clear aquarium water. It incorporates Stay Clean technology and a sound shield to minimize operational noise. Setup Instructions

Unpacking and Component Identification

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all parts are present before proceeding with installation. Refer to Figure 2 for component identification.

Filter Assembly

1. Attach the intake tube to the bottom of the filter unit. Ensure it is securely connected.
2. Insert a large-sized Tetra Whisper Bio-Bag Filter Cartridge into the designated slot within the filter housing.
3. Position the filter on the back rim of your aquarium. The intake tube should extend into the water, and the spillway should direct filtered water back into the tank.
4. Adjust the intake tube length to ensure proper water intake from your aquarium.

Initial Start-Up

1. Ensure the filter is properly seated on the aquarium rim and the intake tube is fully submerged in water.
2. Plug the power filter into a suitable electrical outlet. The self-priming motor will begin to draw water and start filtration automatically.
3. Verify that water is flowing consistently from the spillway back into the aquarium.

Operating Your Filter

Normal Operation

Once installed and powered on, the Tetra Whisper IQ Power Filter will continuously circulate and filter your aquarium water. The smart path spillway oxygenates the water and agitates the surface, contributing to a healthy aquatic environment.

Flow Control Adjustment

The filter features an adjustable flow control. Locate the flow control lever on the filter unit. Slide the lever to increase or decrease the water flow rate as needed. Lower flow rates are suitable for delicate fish like Bettas, planted tanks, or during feeding times.

Maintenance

Filter Cartridge Replacement

For optimal performance and water clarity, replace the Tetra Whisper Bio-Bag Filter Cartridge monthly. Use only large-sized Tetra Whisper Bio-Bag Filter Cartridges (blue packaging).

1. Unplug the filter from the electrical outlet.
2. Carefully remove the old filter cartridge from the filter housing. Dispose of the used cartridge.
3. Rinse a new large-sized Tetra Whisper Bio-Bag Filter Cartridge under cool tap water to remove any carbon dust.
4. Insert the new cartridge into the filter housing, ensuring it is seated correctly.
5. Plug the filter back into the electrical outlet.

Impeller Cleaning

Periodically, the impeller may require cleaning to ensure efficient operation. Unplug the filter, remove the intake tube, and gently remove the impeller. Clean any debris from the impeller and its housing using a small brush. Reassemble carefully.

Troubleshooting

Filter Not Starting or Low Flow

• Check Power: Ensure the filter is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet.
• Water Level: Verify that the aquarium water level is sufficient for the intake tube to be fully submerged.
• Impeller Obstruction: Unplug the filter and check the impeller for any debris or blockages. Clean if necessary.
• Clogged Cartridge: A heavily clogged filter cartridge can restrict flow. Replace the cartridge if it appears dirty.

Excessive Noise

• Impeller Check: Unplug the filter and inspect the impeller for any damage or foreign objects.
• Proper Seating: Ensure all filter components, including the intake tube and cartridge, are correctly assembled and seated.
• Water Level: Low water levels can cause air to be drawn into the pump, leading to noise. Ensure the water level is adequate.

Water Leaking from Filter

• Component Sealing: Check that all parts of the filter housing and intake tube are properly connected and sealed.
• Cracks or Damage: Inspect the filter unit for any visible cracks or damage that could cause leaks.
