1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your JACO Dually Tire Air Chuck, Model JSP-021. Please read these instructions carefully before use to ensure safe and effective performance. This product is designed for inflating and checking tire pressure on dually wheel setups.
2. Product Overview
The JACO Dually Tire Air Chuck is a robust tool crafted from alloy steel, featuring a dual-head design for convenient access to both inner and outer valve stems on dually tires. Its extended reach and 1/4 inch NPT fitting ensure compatibility with standard air compressor hoses.

Figure 1: JACO Dually Tire Air Chuck (Model JSP-021)
This image displays the overall design of the JACO Dually Tire Air Chuck. It is a straight, extended tool with a chrome finish, featuring a dual head at one end and a threaded fitting at the other for connection to an air hose.
3. Setup
- Inspect the Air Chuck: Before each use, visually inspect the air chuck for any signs of damage, wear, or obstructions. Ensure the 1/4 inch F-NPT fitting is clean and free of debris.
- Connect to Air Hose: Thread the 1/4 inch F-NPT end of the air chuck onto your air compressor hose. Ensure a secure, airtight connection. It is recommended to use thread sealant tape for a leak-free seal if not already present on your hose fitting.
- Understand Closed Flow: This air chuck operates as a Closed Flow system. Air will only flow through the chuck when it is actively engaged with a tire valve stem, depressing the valve core. It is not designed for continuous airflow when disconnected from a valve stem.

Figure 2: Closed Flow Operation Diagram
This diagram illustrates the 'Closed Flow' functionality. Air flows only when the chuck is properly seated on a tire valve stem, activating the internal mechanism. It shows a red 'X' for incorrect usage (air flowing without connection) and a green checkmark for correct usage (air flowing when connected to a valve stem).

Figure 3: 1/4 inch F-NPT Fitting
This image shows a close-up of the 1/4 inch F-NPT threaded fitting at the base of the air chuck, ready for connection to an air hose. A gloved hand is holding the air chuck, demonstrating its connection to an air hose, which is then attached to a tire valve stem.
4. Operating Instructions
The JACO Dually Tire Air Chuck is specifically designed for dually wheel applications, including dually trucks, semi-trucks, trailers, RVs, and motorhomes. Its dual-head design allows for easy access to both inner and outer valve stems.
- Accessing Valve Stems: Utilize the extended length of the air chuck (approximately 6.7 inches) to reach valve stems that are difficult to access, particularly on inner dually wheels.
- Using the Dual Head:
- For outer valve stems, use the straight end of the dual head.
- For inner valve stems, use the angled end of the dual head.
- Checking Pressure/Inflating: Firmly press the appropriate head of the air chuck onto the tire valve stem. Ensure a tight seal. Air will flow into the tire (or allow pressure reading if connected to a gauge) once the valve core is depressed. Remove the chuck to stop airflow.

This image provides a close-up view of the straight end of the dual head, designed for engaging with outer tire valve stems.

Figure 5: Inner Valve Stem Access
This image provides a close-up view of the angled end of the dual head, specifically designed for easier access to inner tire valve stems on dually wheels.

Figure 6: Air Chuck in Use (Tire Gauge Sold Separately)
This image shows a person using the JACO Dually Tire Air Chuck to check tire pressure on a dually wheel. The air chuck is connected to an air hose and a separate tire pressure gauge (not included with this product) is being used to read the pressure.
5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the air chuck with a clean, dry cloth to remove dirt, dust, or moisture. Avoid using harsh chemicals that may damage the finish.
- Storage: Store the air chuck in a clean, dry environment away from extreme temperatures and corrosive materials.
- Inspection: Periodically check the internal components (if accessible) for wear or damage. Ensure the valve core depressor mechanism operates smoothly.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Air leaks from connection point | Loose connection, damaged threads, missing/worn thread sealant. | Ensure fitting is tightened securely. Inspect threads for damage. Apply new thread sealant tape if necessary. |
| Air leaks from chuck head when connected to valve stem | Chuck not fully seated, worn internal seal, damaged valve stem. | Press chuck firmly onto valve stem. Ensure valve stem is not bent or damaged. If problem persists, internal components may be worn; contact support. |
| No airflow when connected to valve stem | Valve core not depressed, obstruction in chuck, air compressor issue. | Ensure chuck is fully engaged to depress valve core. Check for obstructions in the chuck. Verify air compressor is functioning correctly. |
