Safety Information

To prevent damage to the product or injury to yourself or others, please observe the following safety precautions:

  • Do not expose the softbox to rain or moisture.
  • Keep the softbox away from open flames or high heat sources.
  • Ensure the softbox is securely mounted to your light source and stand before use.
  • Handle the spring-loaded mechanism with care during unfolding and folding to avoid sudden release.
  • Do not attempt to modify or disassemble the product.
  • Always disconnect power from your flash or light source before attaching or detaching the softbox.

Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your Godox softbox:

  1. Unfolding the Softbox: Carefully remove the softbox from its carrying case. The softbox is spring-loaded and will expand rapidly. Hold it firmly and allow it to unfold into its square shape.
  2. Attaching the Bowens Mount Speedring: Align the four rods of the softbox with the corresponding holes on the Bowens mount speedring. Insert the rods into the speedring until they are securely seated. The speedring provides the connection point for your Bowens mount compatible flash or light.
  3. Inserting the Inner Diffuser: Attach the inner diffuser to the internal Velcro tabs located inside the softbox. This diffuser helps to further soften and spread the light evenly.
  4. Attaching the Outer Diffuser: Secure the outer diffuser to the Velcro strips around the front edge of the softbox. This is the primary diffusion layer that creates the soft light output.
  5. Mounting to a Light Source: Attach the assembled softbox (via the Bowens mount speedring) to your Bowens mount compatible studio flash, monolight, or LED light. Ensure it is locked securely in place.
  6. Mounting to a Light Stand: Place your light source with the attached softbox onto a sturdy light stand. Adjust the height and angle as needed for your desired lighting setup.

Operating Instructions

Once the softbox is set up and mounted, you can begin using it to shape your light:

  • Power On: Turn on your studio flash or LED light source.
  • Adjust Light Output: Set the desired power output on your light source according to your photographic needs.
  • Positioning: Position the softbox to achieve the desired lighting effect on your subject. The large surface area of the softbox creates a broad, soft light source, ideal for minimizing harsh shadows.
  • Experimentation: Experiment with different distances and angles to understand how the softbox affects light quality and direction.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance will extend the life of your softbox:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior of the softbox. For diffusers, a slightly damp cloth can be used, but ensure they are completely dry before folding or storing. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: When not in use, carefully fold the softbox and store it in its carrying case. Avoid placing heavy objects on top of the folded softbox to prevent damage to the internal frame.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the softbox for any signs of wear or damage, especially the rods and the Bowens mount speedring.
