Setup

1. Placement

The center channel speaker is crucial for dialogue clarity in a home theater system. Optimal placement is directly above or below your television or projection screen, centered horizontally. Ideally, the tweeter should be as close to ear level as possible when seated in your primary listening position. Ensure the speaker is placed on a stable surface or a dedicated speaker stand, and avoid obstructing the front-firing bass ports.

2. Connections

To connect your Voce Esprit EZ speaker to your AV receiver or amplifier, use high-quality speaker wire. Observe correct polarity: connect the positive (+) terminal on the speaker (usually red) to the positive (+) terminal on your amplifier, and the negative (-) terminal on the speaker (usually black) to the negative (-) terminal on your amplifier. Incorrect polarity can result in poor sound quality and reduced bass response.

Ensure all connections are secure to prevent signal loss or short circuits. After connecting, configure your AV receiver's speaker settings to recognize the center channel speaker and set appropriate crossover frequencies as recommended by your receiver's manual or an auto-calibration system.

Operating

Once connected and configured, the Triangle Voce Esprit EZ speaker operates as part of your home theater system. It will reproduce the center channel audio, primarily dialogue, from your source material. For optimal performance, allow a 'break-in' period of approximately 20-50 hours of normal use. During this time, the speaker drivers will loosen up, and the sound quality may improve.

Adjust the volume through your AV receiver. Avoid excessively high volume levels that cause audible distortion, as this can damage the speaker drivers.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning the Cabinet: Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to wipe the speaker cabinet. Do not use liquid cleaners, aerosol sprays, or abrasive chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
  • Cleaning the Grille: The magnetic grille can be gently removed and dusted with a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner on a low setting.
  • Driver Care: Avoid touching the speaker drivers (tweeter and woofers) directly, as this can cause damage.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
No sound from center speaker Loose speaker wire connection; Receiver not configured for center channel; Receiver input error. Check speaker wire connections at both the speaker and receiver. Ensure correct polarity. Verify receiver settings for center channel output. Select correct audio input on receiver.
Distorted or unclear dialogue Incorrect speaker placement; Overdriven amplifier; Incorrect receiver settings (e.g., crossover). Adjust speaker placement for optimal sound. Reduce volume. Check receiver's speaker calibration and crossover settings. Ensure speaker wires are not frayed or shorting.
Dialogue sounds too quiet or too loud Center channel level imbalance in receiver settings. Adjust the center channel level in your AV receiver's speaker setup menu. Run auto-calibration if available.
