4. Operating the Sensor

4.1. Data Output and Interface

The WITMOTION app provides various data outputs and interfaces for monitoring the sensor's performance:

  • Acceleration: Displays 3-axis acceleration data.
  • Gyroscope: Shows 3-axis angular velocity.
  • Angle: Provides pitch, roll, and yaw angles.
  • Magnetic: Displays 3-axis magnetic field data.
  • Quaternion: Shows quaternion values for orientation.

You can observe real-time data curves and numerical values for each parameter. The app also features a dashboard for an intuitive overview of all sensor attitude motion.

4.2. Calibration

Calibration is crucial for accurate sensor readings. The app provides options for:

  • Acceleration Calibration: Place the sensor on a horizontal surface and initiate calibration. The X and Y acceleration values should return to 0, and Z-axis should show 1G, indicating successful calibration for acceleration bias.
  • Magnetic Calibration: This requires careful execution to avoid magnetic interference. Ensure the sensor is away from mobile phones, computers, or metal surfaces. The calibration process involves rotating the sensor 360 degrees horizontally and vertically. The app will guide you through the steps.

4.3. Configuration Settings

Adjust various parameters to optimize sensor performance for your specific application:

  • Output Rate: Change the data output frequency. The default is 10Hz, but it can be set up to a maximum of 200Hz.
  • Factory Restore: Resets all settings to their default values.
  • Rename Function: Allows you to customize the device name (e.g., "WT123").

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your BWT901CL sensor, follow these general maintenance guidelines:

  • Keep the device clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Avoid exposing the sensor to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
  • Store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • Protect the sensor from physical shocks or drops, as this can affect its calibration and internal components.
  • Regularly check for software/firmware updates from the official WITMOTION website to ensure you have the latest features and bug fixes.

6. Troubleshooting

Here are some common issues and their potential solutions:

IssuePossible CauseSolution
Cannot connect via Bluetooth.Bluetooth not enabled, sensor not powered on, out of range, or incorrect device selected.Ensure Bluetooth is on, sensor is charged and powered, within 10m range, and select the correct device name (WT901BLE or HC-06).
Inaccurate angle/magnetic readings.Sensor not calibrated or magnetic interference.Perform Acceleration and Magnetic Calibration as described in Section 4.2. Ensure no strong magnetic fields (phones, metal objects) are near the sensor during use.
App/Software crashes or freezes.Outdated app/software version, or system incompatibility.Update the app/software to the latest version. Check WITMOTION's website for system requirements and compatibility. Restart the app/software and the sensor.
Data not recording or exporting correctly.Insufficient storage on device, or software glitch.Check available storage on your phone/PC. Restart the app and try recording again. Ensure proper file permissions for saving data.
