EMOS PIR Motion Sensor G1130 User Manual

Model: G1130

1. Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the EMOS PIR Motion Sensor, model G1130. This device is designed to detect moving objects, primarily people, within its detection field and automate connected systems such as lighting or alarms.

The sensor reacts to the heat emitted by moving individuals. When motion is detected, the connected system activates for a user-defined duration. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper function and safety.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Risk of Electric Shock!

  • Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with all local and national electrical codes.
  • Always disconnect power at the circuit breaker before installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
  • Do not install the sensor in locations with high humidity or direct water exposure unless specifically rated for such environments. This model is rated IP44, suitable for splash water protection.
  • Ensure all wire connections are secure and properly insulated.
  • Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of the sensor (1200W for incandescent, 300W for LED).

Keep this manual for future reference.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present in the package:

  • 1 x EMOS PIR Motion Sensor (Model G1130)
  • 1 x User Manual (this document)
  • Mounting screws and wall plugs (may vary by region)

Key Components:

  • PIR Detection Lens: Detects infrared radiation (heat) from moving objects.
  • TIME Adjustment Knob: Controls the duration the connected load remains ON after motion detection (10 seconds to 7 minutes).
  • LUX Adjustment Knob: Sets the ambient light level at which the sensor becomes active (e.g., only activates in darkness).
  • Wiring Terminals (L, N, L'): For electrical connections.
  • Mounting Clips: For securing the sensor to a surface.

5. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for safe and effective installation:

  1. Choose a Location: Select a suitable location for the sensor. Consider the detection range (up to 6m) and angle (360°). Avoid placing it near heat sources (e.g., vents, direct sunlight) or areas with rapid temperature changes, as this can cause false triggers. The sensor is designed for indoor mounting.
  2. Disconnect Power: Before starting any electrical work, turn off the power to the circuit at the main circuit breaker. Verify that the power is off using a voltage tester.
  3. Mount the Sensor:
    • Detach the mounting base from the sensor body by twisting or unlatching.
    • Position the mounting base on the desired surface (ceiling or wall).
    • Mark the drilling points through the mounting holes.
    • Drill holes and insert wall plugs if necessary.
    • Secure the mounting base using appropriate screws.
  4. Wire the Sensor:
    • Connect the Live (L) wire from the power supply to the 'L' terminal on the sensor.
    • Connect the Neutral (N) wire from the power supply to the 'N' terminal on the sensor.
    • Connect the switched Live (L') wire from the sensor to the Live terminal of the light fixture or device you wish to control.
    • Ensure all connections are tight and secure.

Refer to Figure 4.2 for wiring terminal locations.

  5. Attach Sensor Body: Once wiring is complete, carefully attach the sensor body back onto the mounted base, ensuring it clicks securely into place.
  6. Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.

6. Operating Instructions

The EMOS PIR Motion Sensor features two adjustable knobs for customization:

  • TIME Adjustment:

This knob controls how long the connected light or device remains ON after motion is detected and no further motion is sensed. Rotate the knob clockwise to increase the delay time, and counter-clockwise to decrease it. The adjustable range is from a minimum of 10 seconds to a maximum of 7 minutes.

  • LUX Adjustment:

This knob determines the ambient light level at which the sensor will activate.

    • Rotate towards the sun symbol (max LUX) for the sensor to operate in both daylight and darkness.
    • Rotate towards the moon symbol (min LUX) for the sensor to operate only in low light conditions or darkness (e.g., below 3 lux).

Testing the Sensor:

After installation, perform a test to ensure proper operation:

  1. Set the TIME knob to its minimum setting (10 seconds).
  2. Set the LUX knob to the maximum (sun symbol) to allow operation in any light condition.
  3. Turn on the power. The connected light may turn on briefly during initialization.
  4. Move out of the sensor's detection range for about 10-15 seconds.
  5. Walk into the detection area. The light should turn on.
  6. Remain still. The light should turn off after the set delay time (approx. 10 seconds).
  7. Adjust TIME and LUX settings as desired for your specific application.

7. Maintenance

The EMOS PIR Motion Sensor requires minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the sensor's surface and detection lens with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or excessive moisture, as this can damage the unit.
  • Inspection: Periodically check the sensor for any visible damage or loose connections. If any damage is observed, disconnect power and have it inspected by a qualified technician.
  • Environment: Ensure the area around the sensor remains clear of obstructions that could block its detection field.

8. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your EMOS PIR Motion Sensor, refer to the following table:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Light does not turn on when motion is detected.
  • No power to the sensor.
  • Incorrect wiring.
  • LUX setting too low (sensor thinks it's daylight).
  • Sensor is faulty.
  • Check circuit breaker and power supply.
  • Verify wiring according to Section 5.
  • Adjust LUX knob towards the moon symbol.
  • Contact customer support.
Light stays on constantly.
  • Continuous motion in detection area.
  • Sensor is faulty.
  • Wiring error (e.g., L' connected directly to L).
  • Ensure no constant motion or heat sources are within range.
  • Contact customer support.
  • Verify wiring according to Section 5.
Light turns on too frequently or for no apparent reason (false triggers).
  • Sensor detecting pets, swaying curtains, or moving branches.
  • Sensor exposed to rapid temperature changes (e.g., drafts, heating vents).
  • LUX setting too high (sensor activates in bright conditions).
  • Adjust sensor position or detection angle.
  • Relocate sensor away from heat sources or drafts.
  • Adjust LUX knob towards the moon symbol.
Detection range is too short or inconsistent.
  • Obstructions blocking the sensor.
  • Incorrect mounting height.
  • Temperature of detected object too close to ambient temperature.
  • Clear obstructions.
  • Ensure mounting height is optimal (typically 2.2-4m).
  • This is inherent to PIR technology; ensure clear line of sight for movement.
