2. Safety Instructions

To reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, or injury, always follow these basic safety precautions:

  • Power Source: Connect the unit only to an AC power outlet of the specified voltage (AC 220-240V, 50/60Hz).

Each speaker features an 8-inch woofer and a 1-inch tweeter for clear, defined sound reproduction. The durable PP plastic enclosure is designed for portability and resilience.

  1. Digital Media Player: Features an LCD display, mode button, play/pause, skip tracks, and repeat functions. Supports Bluetooth, SD card, and USB input.
  2. SD/MMC Card Slot: For playing audio files from an SD or MMC card.
  3. USB Port: For playing audio files from a USB flash drive.
  4. Bluetooth Indicator: Lights up when Bluetooth is connected.
  5. MIC Input (XLR/TRS Combo): For connecting a microphone.

The passive speaker (SZS-P8) features a single Speakon input for connection to the active speaker (SZS-P8A). It receives both audio signal and power from the active unit.

5. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your SubZero PA System:

  1. Speaker Stand Assembly:
    • Remove the speaker stands from their carry bag.
    • Extend the legs of each stand to form a stable tripod base.
    • Adjust the height of the stand to your desired level and secure it using the locking pin and tightening knob. Ensure the stand is stable and balanced.
  2. Speaker Placement:
    • Carefully place one active speaker (SZS-P8A) and one passive speaker (SZS-P8) onto the top pole of each assembled speaker stand.
    • Ensure the speakers are securely seated on the stands.
  3. Connecting Speakers:
    • Connect one end of the provided 6-meter speaker connection cable to the 'Expansion Speaker Output' (Speakon) on the active speaker (SZS-P8A).
    • Connect the other end of the cable to the 'Input' (Speakon) on the passive speaker (SZS-P8).
  4. Power Connection:
    • Ensure the POWER switch on the active speaker is in the 'OFF' position.
    • Connect the power cable to the 'AC Input' on the active speaker.
    • Plug the other end of the power cable into a suitable grounded AC power outlet.
  5. Connecting Audio Sources:
    • For microphones, connect to the 'MIC Input' (XLR/TRS Combo).
    • For external devices like smartphones or tablets, connect to the 'AUX IN' (RCA) using an appropriate cable (not included).

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Powering On/Off

  1. Before powering on, ensure all volume controls (MIC VOL, MASTER VOL) are set to their minimum position.
  2. Flip the 'POWER' switch to the 'ON' position. The POWER indicator will illuminate.
  3. To power off, set all volume controls to minimum, then flip the 'POWER' switch to 'OFF'.

6.2. Adjusting Volume and EQ

  1. Master Volume: Slowly increase the 'MASTER VOL' knob to achieve the desired overall output level.
  2. Microphone Volume: If using a microphone, adjust the 'MIC VOL' knob independently.
  3. Equalization (EQ): Use the 'TREBLE' and 'BASS' knobs to fine-tune the high and low frequencies of your audio.
  4. Clip Indicator: If the 'CLIP' indicator lights up frequently, reduce the 'MASTER VOL' or the input level of your source to prevent distortion.

6.3. Using the Digital Media Player

The integrated digital media player supports Bluetooth, USB, and SD card playback.

  1. Mode Selection: Press the 'MODE' button to cycle through input modes: Bluetooth, USB, SD, and AUX. The selected mode will be displayed on the LCD screen.
  2. USB/SD Playback: Insert a USB flash drive or SD card into the respective slot. The player will automatically switch to USB/SD mode and begin playing compatible audio files. Use the playback controls (play/pause, skip) to navigate.
  3. Bluetooth Pairing:
    • Select Bluetooth mode using the 'MODE' button. The Bluetooth indicator will flash.
    • On your Bluetooth-enabled device (e.g., smartphone, tablet), search for available devices.
    • Select 'SubZero' (or similar name) from the list to pair.
    • Once paired, the Bluetooth indicator will glow steadily, and you can play audio from your device through the PA system.

7. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your PA system.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surfaces of the speakers and stands with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the PA system in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the provided carry bag for the speaker stands to protect them during transport and storage.
  • Cable Care: Avoid kinking or sharply bending cables. Store cables neatly to prevent damage.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect power cords and speaker cables for any signs of damage. If damage is found, replace the cable immediately.
