1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Hecht 2250 Electric Chainsaw. Please read these instructions carefully before using the chainsaw for the first time and keep them for future reference.
The Hecht 2250 electric chainsaw is designed for use around the home, garden, and yard. Its narrow profile, achieved by the longitudinally mounted motor, makes it suitable for tasks such as tree maintenance, delimbing, and working in confined spaces. Equipped with a soft-start system, the chainsaw ensures easy and smooth starting.
2. Safety Instructions
WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions can result in serious injury or death.
- Read the entire manual: Understand all instructions and warnings before operating the chainsaw.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear appropriate safety gear, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, sturdy footwear, and leg protection.
- Work Area: Keep the work area clear of bystanders, children, and pets. Ensure good lighting and a stable footing.
- Electrical Safety: Ensure the power cord is in good condition and positioned to avoid damage. Do not operate in wet conditions.
- Kickback Prevention: Be aware of kickback risks. Always hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands. Avoid cutting with the tip of the guide bar.
- Maintenance: Regularly check the chain tension, sharpness, and lubrication. A dull or improperly tensioned chain can increase the risk of accidents.
- Transport and Storage: Always engage the chain brake and disconnect from power before transporting or storing the chainsaw. Use the guide bar cover.

4. Setup
4.1 Assembly (if required)
If the guide bar and chain are not pre-assembled, follow these steps:
- Place the guide bar onto the mounting studs.
- Carefully fit the chain around the sprocket and into the guide bar groove. Ensure the cutting edges of the chain are facing the correct direction.
- Install the side cover and tighten the nuts finger-tight.
- Adjust the chain tension (refer to section 6.1).
- Fully tighten the side cover nuts.
4.2 Filling Chain Oil
The Hecht 2250 features an automatic oil pump for chain lubrication. It is crucial to keep the oil tank filled with appropriate chain lubricant.
- Ensure the chainsaw is disconnected from the power supply.
- Locate the oil tank cap, usually on the top or side of the chainsaw body.
- Unscrew the cap and carefully fill the tank with high-quality chain lubricant. The tank capacity is 120 ml.
- Monitor the oil level through the viewing window during operation and refill as needed.
- Securely replace the oil tank cap.
4.3 Power Connection
Connect the chainsaw to a suitable power outlet (230-240 V / 50 Hz) using an appropriate extension cord if necessary. Ensure the extension cord is rated for outdoor use and can handle the chainsaw's 2400 W power requirement.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Starting the Chainsaw
The Hecht 2250 is equipped with a soft-start system for smooth operation.
- Ensure the chain brake is disengaged (pushed back towards the front handle).
- Hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands, one on the front handle and one on the rear handle.
- Press the safety switch on the rear handle with your thumb.
- Squeeze the main trigger with your fingers. The soft-start system will gradually bring the chain up to speed.
5.2 Cutting Techniques
- Stance: Maintain a balanced stance with your feet shoulder-width apart.
- Grip: Always hold the chainsaw with both hands.
- Kickback Zone: Avoid cutting with the upper quadrant of the guide bar tip, as this is the kickback zone.
- Felling Spikes: Use the metal felling spikes to pivot the chainsaw into the wood for more controlled cuts.
- Adjustable Oil Pump: Adjust the oil flow rate as needed for different wood types and cutting conditions to ensure optimal chain lubrication.
- Cutting Pressure: Let the chainsaw do the work. Do not force the saw through the wood.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your chainsaw.
6.1 Chain Tension
Proper chain tension is critical for safe and efficient cutting. A loose chain can derail, and a too-tight chain can cause excessive wear and damage.
- Disconnect the chainsaw from the power supply.
- Loosen the side cover nuts slightly.
- Adjust the chain tensioning screw until the chain fits snugly against the guide bar, but can still be pulled around by hand without binding.
- Ensure the drive links are fully engaged in the guide bar groove.
- Retighten the side cover nuts securely.
6.2 Chain Lubrication
The automatic oil pump ensures continuous lubrication. Always check the oil level before and during operation using the viewing window. Refill with appropriate chain oil as necessary.
6.3 Chain Sharpening
A sharp chain is essential for safe and efficient cutting. A dull chain will produce sawdust instead of chips and require more force to cut.
- Disconnect the chainsaw from the power supply.
- Use a round file of the correct diameter for your chain (refer to chain specifications).
- File each cutter with consistent strokes at the correct angle.
- Alternatively, have the chain professionally sharpened.
6.4 Cleaning
After each use, disconnect the power and clean the chainsaw. Remove sawdust, chips, and debris from the guide bar, chain, and motor housing vents. Ensure the oiler port is clear.
7. Troubleshooting
