How to Play (Operating)
Guess Who? is a game of deduction and strategy. Here’s how to play:
- Choose Your Mystery Character: Each player secretly draws one Mystery Card from the shuffled deck. This is your mystery character, and you must keep it hidden from your opponent.
- Starting the Game: The youngest player goes first.
- Asking Questions: On your turn, ask your opponent a 'yes' or 'no' question about their mystery character. For example, you might ask, "Does your character have a hat?" or "Is your character a boy?"
- Eliminating Characters: Based on your opponent's answer, flip down the faces on your gameboard that do not match the description. For instance, if your opponent says "No" to "Does your character have a hat?", you would flip down all characters wearing hats on your board.
- Taking Turns: Players alternate asking questions and eliminating characters until one player is confident they know their opponent's mystery character.
- Making a Guess: When you are ready to guess, you must do so on your turn, instead of asking a question. Say, "Is your mystery character [Character's Name]?"
- Winning the Game: If your guess is correct, you win the round! If your guess is incorrect, you lose the round. The first player to win five games is the overall Guess Who? champion. Use the scorekeepers to track wins.

Game Variations
To add more challenge or variety to your game, consider these variations:
- Championship Series: Challenge your opponent to a series of games. The first player to win five games is declared the champion.
- Advanced Questioning: Introduce a rule where players cannot ask about gender until their third turn, forcing more specific and detailed questions about appearance or accessories.
- Timed Rounds: Set a timer for each turn or for the entire game to increase the pace and challenge.
Maintenance
To ensure the longevity of your Guess Who? game, follow these simple maintenance tips:
- Cleaning: Wipe down the plastic gameboards and character frames with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: Store all game components in the original box in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Card Care: Handle the Face Cards and Mystery Cards with care to prevent bending or creasing. If cards become worn, replacements may be available from the manufacturer.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues while playing Guess Who?, refer to the common problems and solutions below:
- Character Frames Sticking/Jammed: Ensure that the character frames are properly aligned and snapped into their slots. Gently wiggle them to loosen any stiffness. Avoid forcing them, as this can cause damage.
- Face Cards Falling Out: Verify that the Face Cards are fully inserted into their frames. If the cardstock is thin or worn, they may not sit as securely. Consider reinforcing the top edge of the cards with a small piece of tape if they consistently fall out (ensure it doesn't interfere with flipping).
- Missing Components: Check all packaging thoroughly. If components are genuinely missing, contact Hasbro customer support for assistance.
