2. Safety Precautions

  • Always ensure the iron is unplugged and cold before handling the soleplate for inspection or initial preparation.
  • Perform cleaning in a well-ventilated area.
  • Avoid contact of the cleaner with skin and eyes. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with water.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
  • Do not ingest the cleaning solution.

3. Setup and Preparation

  1. Inspect the Soleplate: Ensure the iron is unplugged and cold. Examine the soleplate for any residue, scorch marks, or sticky build-up.
  2. Prepare Your Workspace: Choose a well-ventilated area with a heat-resistant surface. Lay down old towels or newspapers to protect the surface from any potential drips or residue.
  3. Gather Materials: Have the soleplate cleaner tube, application cloth, and polishing/finishing cloth from the kit readily available.

4. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps carefully to clean your iron's soleplate:

  1. Heat the Iron: Plug in your iron and set it to its hottest, dry setting (no steam). Allow the iron to heat up completely. The soleplate must be hot for the cleaner to be effective.
  2. Apply Cleaner: Squeeze a small amount of the soleplate cleaner onto the application cloth. Do not apply the cleaner directly to the iron's soleplate.
  3. Clean the Soleplate: Carefully rub the application cloth with the cleaner over the hot soleplate, focusing on areas with residue. Apply gentle pressure. You should see the residue begin to dissolve and transfer to the cloth.
  4. Wipe Clean: Once the residue is removed, immediately use the clean polishing/finishing cloth to wipe the soleplate thoroughly. Ensure all cleaner residue is removed from the soleplate.
  5. Cool Down: Unplug the iron and allow it to cool completely before storing.

Note: For stubborn stains, you may need to repeat the process. Always ensure the iron is hot and dry during the cleaning application.

5. Maintenance

  • After use, the application and polishing cloths can be hand-washed with soap and water to remove absorbed residue, then air-dried for future use.
  • Store the soleplate cleaner tube in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
  • Ensure the cap of the cleaner tube is tightly closed after each use to prevent drying.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Residue not coming off: Ensure the iron is set to its hottest, dry setting. If the iron is not hot enough, the cleaner will not be as effective. Reapply the cleaner and repeat the rubbing process.
  • Streaks on soleplate after cleaning: This indicates that not all cleaner residue was removed. Reheat the iron (if it has cooled) and use a clean part of the polishing cloth to wipe the soleplate thoroughly until no streaks remain.
  • Cleaner appears dry or hardened: Ensure the cap is always tightly sealed after use. If the cleaner has hardened significantly, it may need to be replaced.
