1. Introduction

The Monster Nomad MNMD-S-MC is a portable Bluetooth speaker designed for versatile audio playback. It features Bluetooth connectivity, NFC pairing, an FM radio, and USB input, making it suitable for various indoor and outdoor environments. This manual provides instructions for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your device.

2. Important Safety Information

• Read all instructions before using the product.
• Do not expose the speaker to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for extended periods.
• Avoid placing the speaker near heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
• Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
• Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
• Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
• Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.

Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.

Controls and Ports:

• Power Button: Turns the speaker on or off.
• Volume Knob: Adjusts the master volume level.
• Play/Pause Button: Controls audio playback in Bluetooth mode.
• Track Skip Buttons: Skips to the next or previous track in Bluetooth mode.
• Mode Button: Switches between Bluetooth, FM Radio, AUX, and USB input modes.
• FM Tuning Buttons: For scanning and selecting FM radio stations.
• USB Port: For USB audio playback or charging external devices.

5. Setup

5.1 Charging the Speaker

1. Connect the provided power adapter to the charging port on the speaker.
2. Plug the other end of the power adapter into a wall outlet.
3. The charging indicator light will illuminate. Allow approximately 3-4 hours for a full charge.
4. Once fully charged, the indicator light may change color or turn off. Disconnect the charger.

Note: For optimal battery life, fully charge the speaker before first use.

5.2 Powering On/Off

• To power on, press and hold the Power Button until the indicator light illuminates and you hear an audible prompt.
• To power off, press and hold the Power Button again until the indicator light turns off.

5.3 Bluetooth Pairing

There are two methods for connecting your device via Bluetooth:

Method 1: NFC (Near Field Communication) Pairing

If your device supports NFC, you can pair quickly:

1. Ensure the speaker is powered on and in Bluetooth mode.
2. Enable NFC on your smartphone or tablet.
3. Tap your NFC-enabled device gently against the NFC area on the speaker.
4. Confirm the pairing request on your device. The speaker will indicate a successful connection.

Method 2: Manual Bluetooth Pairing

1. Power on the speaker. It will automatically enter Bluetooth pairing mode if no device is connected, indicated by a flashing Bluetooth indicator light. If not, press the Mode Button to switch to Bluetooth mode.
2. On your audio device (smartphone, tablet, computer), enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
3. Select "Monster Nomad" from the list of found devices.
4. Once connected, the Bluetooth indicator light will become solid, and you will hear a confirmation sound.

5.4 Connecting via AUX Input

1. Connect one end of a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) to the AUX IN port on the speaker.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to the headphone jack or audio output of your external audio device.
3. Press the Mode Button on the speaker until AUX mode is selected.
4. Play audio from your external device.

5.5 Connecting via USB Input

1. Insert a USB flash drive containing audio files into the USB port on the speaker.
2. Press the Mode Button on the speaker until USB mode is selected.
3. The speaker will automatically begin playing audio files from the USB drive.

6. Operating the Speaker

6.1 Audio Playback (Bluetooth/USB)

• Volume Control: Rotate the Volume Knob clockwise to increase volume, counter-clockwise to decrease.
• Play/Pause: Press the Play/Pause Button to pause playback, press again to resume.
• Next Track: Press the Next Track Button to skip to the next song.
• Previous Track: Press the Previous Track Button to go to the beginning of the current song, or press again to go to the previous song.

6.2 FM Radio Operation

1. Press the Mode Button until FM Radio mode is selected.
2. To auto-scan and save stations, press and hold the Play/Pause Button. The speaker will scan for available stations and save them as presets.
3. Use the Track Skip Buttons to navigate through the saved FM radio presets.
4. Adjust the volume using the Volume Knob.

6.3 Using Microphone/Guitar Input

If your model includes a MIC/GUITAR input:

1. Connect your microphone or guitar to the designated input port.
2. Adjust the input volume using the dedicated MIC/GUITAR volume knob (if available) or the main volume knob.
3. Ensure the speaker is in an appropriate mode (e.g., Bluetooth or AUX) if you wish to mix the input with other audio sources.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

• Always power off the speaker and disconnect it from the power source before cleaning.
• Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces of the speaker.
• For stubborn dirt, lightly dampen the cloth with water. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents.
• Avoid getting moisture into any openings or ports.

7.2 Storage

• Store the speaker in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• If storing for an extended period, charge the battery to approximately 50% every few months to maintain battery health.

7.3 Battery Care

• The speaker uses a built-in rechargeable battery. Do not attempt to replace it yourself.
• Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently, as this can reduce its lifespan.
• Do not expose the battery to fire or excessive heat.
