AXA Echo 15 Headlight User Manual

For Hub Dynamo with Holder and Cable

1. Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your AXA Echo 15 Headlight. Designed for bicycles with a hub dynamo, this headlight offers reliable illumination for safe cycling. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper function and safety.

2. Safety Information

  • Always ensure the headlight is securely mounted before riding.
  • Do not look directly into the light beam when the headlight is active, as it can cause temporary vision impairment.
  • Ensure all electrical connections are properly insulated and protected from water and debris.
  • Regularly check the headlight for damage or loose connections. Replace damaged parts immediately.
  • This product is designed for use with a hub dynamo. Do not connect to other power sources unless specified.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present in the package:

  • AXA Echo 15 Headlight unit
  • Mounting holder/bracket
  • Connection cable
  • Mounting hardware (bolts, nuts, washers)

4. Setup and Installation

The AXA Echo 15 Headlight is designed for front fork crown mounting. Follow these steps for installation:

  1. Mounting the Headlight:

Attach the provided mounting holder to the front fork crown of your bicycle using the supplied bolt and nut. Ensure the holder is securely fastened and oriented correctly to position the headlight forward.

Slide the AXA Echo 15 Headlight onto the mounting holder and secure it with the appropriate hardware. Adjust the angle of the headlight so that the beam is directed slightly downwards, illuminating the road ahead without blinding oncoming traffic.

  2. Connecting to the Hub Dynamo:

Identify the two wires extending from your hub dynamo. Connect the two wires from the AXA Echo 15 Headlight to the corresponding wires from your hub dynamo. Typically, one wire is for power and the other for ground. Ensure a secure and insulated connection for both wires. If your dynamo has a ground connection to the frame, ensure the headlight is also properly grounded.

Some models may include a rear light output. If applicable, connect your rear bicycle light to the designated output terminals on the headlight, following the polarity markings.

  3. Cable Management:

Route the connection cables along your bicycle frame, securing them with cable ties or clips to prevent them from snagging on moving parts or getting damaged.

5. Operating Instructions

The AXA Echo 15 Headlight operates automatically when connected to a hub dynamo and the bicycle is in motion. There are no manual switches for this model.

  • Automatic Activation: The headlight will illuminate as soon as the bicycle reaches a certain speed, generating power from the hub dynamo.
  • Standlight Function (if applicable): Some AXA Echo models feature a standlight function, which keeps the light on for a few minutes after stopping. This is powered by a small capacitor within the headlight. The Echo 15 model typically does not include this feature.

6. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your AXA Echo 15 Headlight, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Clean the lens and housing regularly with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the plastic.
  • Connection Check: Periodically inspect the electrical connections to the hub dynamo and any rear light for corrosion or looseness. Ensure they remain secure and insulated.
  • Mounting Security: Check the mounting bolts and bracket for tightness. Vibrations from cycling can sometimes loosen fasteners.
  • Water Resistance: The headlight is water-resistant. However, avoid submerging it in water or directing high-pressure water jets directly at it.
