Setup
1. Initial Inspection
Upon receiving your YETI Tundra 65, inspect it for any signs of damage during shipping. Ensure all components, including the T-Rex Lid Latches and the dry goods basket, are present and functional.
2. Placement Considerations
For optimal performance, place the cooler on a flat, stable surface. Avoid direct sunlight for extended periods, especially when pre-chilling or storing contents, to maximize ice retention.
3. Pre-Chilling
For best results, pre-chill your Tundra 65 Cooler before loading it with contents. Fill the cooler with sacrificial ice or ice packs 12-24 hours prior to use. This lowers the internal temperature of the cooler walls, significantly improving ice retention.

Operation
1. Packing for Optimal Ice Retention
The Tundra 65 features up to 3 inches of PermaFrost Insulation and an extra-thick FatWall Design. To maximize ice retention:
- Use a good ice-to-contents ratio, ideally 2:1 by volume.
- Fill the cooler completely. Air pockets reduce ice retention.
- Use block ice for longer retention, or a mix of block and cubed ice.
- Minimize opening the lid. Each time the lid is opened, cold air escapes.

2. Securing the Lid
The T-Rex Lid Latches are constructed of heavy-duty rubber, designed for durability and a secure seal. Pull the latches firmly over the molded keepers to ensure the lid is tightly closed. The ColdLock Gasket creates a freezer-quality seal to block out heat.
3. Draining the Cooler
The Vortex Drain System is leakproof and designed for quick and easy draining. Simply unscrew the drain plug located at the bottom of the cooler to release melted ice water.
4. Carrying and Transporting
The Tundra 65 is equipped with LipGrip Handles for easy carrying and DoubleHaul Handles made of military-grade polyester rope for extra durability when transporting with two people. For securing the cooler during transport, utilize the AnchorPoint Tie-Down Slots molded into the cooler body, suitable for boats, trailers, or truck beds.

Maintenance
1. Cleaning Instructions
Clean your YETI Tundra 65 after each use. Use mild soap and warm water with a soft cloth or sponge. For stubborn stains or odors, a solution of bleach and water (1:6 ratio) can be used. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water and allow to air dry with the lid open to prevent mildew.
2. Storage Recommendations
Store the cooler in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the lid slightly ajar during storage to allow for air circulation and prevent odors from building up inside.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Ice melts too quickly | Cooler not pre-chilled; insufficient ice; frequent lid opening; warm contents. | Pre-chill cooler; use more ice (2:1 ratio); minimize lid openings; pre-chill contents. |
| Lid not sealing properly | Latches not fully engaged; debris on ColdLock Gasket. | Ensure T-Rex Latches are securely fastened; clean ColdLock Gasket and rim of cooler. |
| Unpleasant odor inside cooler | Improper cleaning or storage. | Clean thoroughly with bleach solution; store with lid slightly ajar. |
