Setup and Installation
- Positioning the Filter: Place the sand filter system on a firm, level surface, close to the pool and a power outlet. Ensure it is protected from direct sunlight and harsh weather conditions.
- Adding Filter Sand:
- Remove the top cover of the filter tank.
- Carefully pour the recommended amount (approx. 20 kg) of silica sand (0.7-1.25 mm) into the tank. Ensure the center pipe is not dislodged during this process.
- Distribute the sand evenly. Do not overfill the tank.
- Replace the top cover and secure it firmly.
- Connecting Hoses:
- Connect the pool's skimmer/suction line to the "PUMP" inlet on the filter system.
- Connect the pool's return line to the "RETURN" outlet on the filter system.
- Connect a backwash hose to the "WASTE" port, directing it to an appropriate drainage area.
- Ensure all hose clamps and connections are tight to prevent leaks.
- Electrical Connection: Connect the power cord to a grounded electrical outlet. Ensure the voltage matches the system's requirements (220-240V).
- Priming the Pump: Before starting, ensure the pump is primed by filling it with water. This prevents dry running and damage to the pump.

Operating Instructions
The AVENLI JL-3000A features a 6-position multi-port valve for various operational modes. Always turn off the pump before changing the valve position to prevent damage.
- FILTER: This is the standard operating mode for daily filtration. Water is pumped through the sand bed, filtered, and returned to the pool.
- RINSE: Used after backwashing to flush out any remaining dirt from the sand bed before returning to FILTER mode. Run for 30-60 seconds.
- RECIRCULATE: Water is circulated through the pump and valve, bypassing the filter sand. Useful for distributing chemicals without filtering.
- BACKWASH: Reverses the water flow through the sand bed to clean it. Dirty water is directed out through the waste port. Perform when the pressure gauge reads 8-10 PSI above its clean operating pressure. Run until water runs clear (approx. 2-3 minutes).
- CLOSED: Shuts off all flow to the filter. Use for servicing the pump or filter. Never operate the pump with the valve in the CLOSED position.
- WASTE (DRAIN): Drains water directly from the pool through the waste port, bypassing the filter. Useful for lowering pool water level or vacuuming heavy debris directly to waste.
Pressure Gauge: The integrated pressure gauge indicates the internal pressure of the filter system. A rising pressure indicates that the filter sand is becoming dirty and requires backwashing.
Maintenance
- Regular Backwashing: Backwash the filter when the pressure gauge reads 8-10 PSI above its normal clean operating pressure, or at least once a week during heavy use.
- Rinsing: Always rinse the filter after backwashing to prevent dirty water from returning to the pool.
- Sand Replacement: Filter sand typically needs to be replaced every 3-5 years, depending on usage and water quality. Refer to the "Adding Filter Sand" section for instructions.
- Winterization: In colder climates, drain all water from the filter system and pump to prevent freezing damage. Store the unit in a dry, protected area.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect hoses, clamps, and seals for wear or damage. Replace any worn parts immediately.
