EcoPure EPW2F

EcoPure EPW2F Premium Universal Whole Home Carbon Filter Instruction Manual

Model: EPW2F

Brand: EcoPure

1. Product Overview

The EcoPure EPW2F Premium Universal Whole Home Carbon Filter is designed to deliver cleaner, clearer, and better-tasting water throughout your entire home. Utilizing advanced FACT (Flow and Capture Technology) media, this filter provides superior filtration without significantly reducing water flow.

This premium carbon filter is NSF certified to effectively reduce chlorine taste and odor, sediment, sand, silt, and rust. With a micron rating of less than 1, it captures even the smallest contaminants, making it suitable for both municipal and well water supplies. The EPW2F filter is engineered for an extended lifespan, lasting up to 6 months, which is double the duration of many standard whole home carbon filters.

The universal design ensures compatibility with EcoPure models EPW2VC, EPW2, and most standard capacity whole home water filtration systems from various brands, including Whirlpool, Omni, Culligan, Watts, Filtrete, 3M, GE, and DuPont.

2. Installation Instructions

These instructions outline the general procedure for replacing a whole home water filter. Always refer to your specific filter housing manual for detailed safety and installation guidelines.

  1. Turn Off Water Supply: Locate the main water shut-off valve for your home and turn it off.
  2. Relieve Pressure: Open a nearby cold water faucet to relieve pressure in the system.
  3. Open Filter Housing: Use the provided wrench (if applicable) to unscrew and remove the filter housing sump.
  4. Remove Old Filter: Carefully remove the old filter cartridge and dispose of it according to local regulations.
  5. Clean Housing: Clean the inside of the filter housing sump with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. Inspect and lubricate the O-ring with silicone grease if necessary.
  6. Insert New Filter: Unwrap the new EcoPure EPW2F filter. Ensure the filter is correctly oriented (if directional) and carefully insert it into the housing sump.
  7. Secure Housing: Screw the filter housing sump back onto the cap, hand-tightening it first, then using the wrench for a snug fit (do not overtighten).
  8. Restore Water Supply: Slowly turn the main water supply back on.
  9. Check for Leaks: Monitor the filter housing for any leaks. If leaks occur, turn off the water, relieve pressure, and re-tighten the housing.
  10. Flush System: Run cold water from a nearby faucet for several minutes to flush out any air or carbon fines from the new filter.

3. Operation

Once properly installed, the EcoPure EPW2F filter operates automatically as water flows through your home's main water line. The filter continuously works to reduce impurities, providing filtered water to all faucets and appliances.

  • Flow Rate: The filter is designed to maintain a water flow rate of approximately 1 gallon per minute (GPM).
  • Filter Life: The EPW2F filter has a rated lifespan of up to 6 months, depending on water quality and usage.

4. Maintenance and Filter Replacement

Regular maintenance, primarily filter replacement, is crucial for optimal performance of your whole home filtration system. The EcoPure EPW2F filter should be replaced every 6 months or sooner if you notice a significant drop in water pressure or a return of chlorine taste and odor.

When to Replace Your Filter:

  • Every 6 months under normal conditions.
  • If water flow significantly decreases.
  • If you detect chlorine taste or odor in your water.
  • If water appears cloudy or contains visible sediment.

Follow the installation instructions (Section 2) in reverse to remove the old filter and install a new one.
