This compact audio system combines a CD player, MD recorder/player, cassette deck, and AM/FM tuner with an integrated amplifier and a pair of high-quality speakers (USC-M2). 4. Setup

4.1 Speaker Connection

  1. Ensure the system is powered off and unplugged from the wall outlet.
  2. Connect the speaker cables from the USC-M2 speakers to the speaker terminals on the rear of the USR-M2 center unit.
  3. Match the polarity: connect the red (+) terminal on the speaker to the red (+) terminal on the center unit, and the black (-) terminal on the speaker to the black (-) terminal on the center unit.
  4. Ensure all connections are secure to prevent short circuits.

4.2 Antenna Connection

  1. Connect the supplied AM loop antenna to the AM antenna terminals on the rear panel. Position the antenna for best reception.
  2. Connect the supplied FM indoor antenna to the FM antenna terminal. Extend the wire for optimal FM reception.

4.3 External Device Connection (AUX/PC)

To connect an external audio source (e.g., a computer or portable music player):

  1. Once all other connections are made, plug the power cord into the AC inlet on the rear of the USR-M2 unit.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Operation

5.2 CD Player Operation

  1. Press the CD button to select the CD function.
  2. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the CD tray.
  3. Place a CD with the label side up on the tray.
  4. Press OPEN/CLOSE again to close the tray. Playback will usually start automatically.
  5. Use PLAY, PAUSE, STOP, SKIP (forward/backward) buttons for control.

5.3 MD Player/Recorder Operation

  1. Press the MD button to select the MD function.
  2. Insert an MD into the MD slot.
  3. Playback: Press PLAY to start playback. Use PAUSE, STOP, SKIP buttons as needed.
  4. Recording:
    • Select the desired input source (CD, Tuner, AUX/PC).
    • Insert a blank or recordable MD.
    • Press the REC button. The system will enter record-pause mode.
    • Start playback on the source device, then press PLAY on the MD section to begin recording.
    • Press STOP to end recording.

5.4 Cassette Deck Operation

  1. Press the TAPE button to select the Cassette function.
  2. Press the OPEN/EJECT button to open the cassette door.
  3. Insert a cassette tape.
  4. Playback: Press PLAY to start playback. Use F.FWD (Fast Forward), REW (Rewind), PAUSE, STOP buttons for control.
  5. Recording:
    • Select the desired input source (CD, Tuner, AUX/PC).
    • Insert a blank cassette tape.
    • Press the REC button (usually simultaneously with PLAY) to begin recording.
    • Press STOP to end recording.
  6. Dolby B Noise Reduction: Activate or deactivate Dolby B noise reduction as desired for playback or recording.

5.5 Tuner Operation (FM/AM)

  1. Press the TUNER button to select the Tuner function.
  2. Press the BAND button to switch between FM and AM bands.
  3. Use the TUNING +/- buttons to manually tune to a station.
  4. Use the PRESET buttons to recall stored stations, or the AUTO TUNE/SCAN function to automatically find and store stations.
