4. Setup
Follow these steps for initial setup:
- Unpack: Remove all packaging materials and place the machine on a stable, level surface.
- Rinse: Rinse the water tank and drip tray with fresh water.
- Fill Water Tank: Fill the water tank with fresh tap water up to the MAX indication.
- Add Coffee Beans: Open the bean container lid and pour whole coffee beans into the container. Do not use ground coffee in the bean container.
- Plug In: Connect the power cord to the machine and then to a grounded wall outlet.
- Initial Start-up: Follow the on-screen instructions for the initial rinse cycle.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Making Espresso or Espresso Lungo
- Ensure the water tank is filled and the bean container has coffee beans.
- Place one or two cups under the coffee dispenser.
- Press the 'Espresso' or 'Espresso Lungo' button on the control panel.
- To adjust aroma strength, press the 'Aroma Strength' button before brewing.
- The machine will automatically grind the beans and brew your coffee.

5.2 Using the Classic Milk Frother
- Fill a milk pitcher with cold milk.
- Submerge the steam wand into the milk.
- Press the 'Steam' button on the control panel.
- Once the desired foam consistency is achieved, press the 'Steam' button again to stop.
- Caution: The steam wand becomes very hot. Clean the steam wand immediately after use.
5.3 Dispensing Hot Water
- Place a cup under the hot water spout (usually the steam wand).
- Press the 'Hot Water' button on the control panel.
- Press the 'Hot Water' button again to stop dispensing.
6. Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure optimal performance and longevity of your espresso machine.
6.1 Daily Cleaning
- Drip Tray and Coffee Grounds Container: Empty and rinse daily.
- Milk Frother: Clean the steam wand immediately after each use to prevent milk residue buildup.
6.2 Weekly/Monthly Cleaning
- Brewing Unit: The brewing unit is removable for easy cleaning. Rinse it under lukewarm running water. Allow it to air dry before reinserting.
- Water Tank: Clean the water tank with a mild detergent and rinse thoroughly.
6.3 Descaling
The machine will prompt you when descaling is required. Follow the instructions in the machine's menu for the automatic descaling procedure using a Saeco descaling solution.
