1. Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your Acctim 71717X Chula RC Digital LCD Alarm Clock. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the product to ensure correct operation and to prevent damage.

The Acctim 71717X is a radio-controlled digital alarm clock featuring a multi-functional LCD display. It automatically sets and adjusts for daylight saving time (summer/winter time) based on the UK Atomic clock signal. Key features include a green backlight, dual alarm settings, calendar display, and indoor temperature display.

2. Safety Information

  • Do not expose the unit to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or high humidity.
  • Avoid dropping or subjecting the clock to strong impacts.

Front Panel Controls:

  • TIME Button: Used to set the current time manually.
  • ALARM Button: Used to set and activate alarms.
  • SOUND Button: Used to adjust alarm sound settings.
  • RESET Button: Resets the clock to default settings.
  • °C/°F Button: Toggles between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature display.
  • 12/24 Button: Toggles between 12-hour and 24-hour time format.

Rear Panel:

  • Battery Compartment: Holds 2 x AA batteries.
  • Alarm ON/OFF Switches (Alarm 1, Alarm 2): Individual switches to enable or disable each alarm.

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

  1. Open the battery compartment cover located on the rear of the clock (refer to Figure 4.3).
  2. Insert 2 x AA batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5.2 Initial Power-On and Radio Control Signal Reception

Upon battery installation, the clock will automatically attempt to receive the radio-controlled time signal. This process may take several minutes to an hour, depending on your location and environmental conditions.

  • Place the clock near a window for optimal signal reception.
  • Avoid placing it near electronic devices that may cause interference.
  • A signal icon (often a tower or waves) on the LCD will indicate signal reception status. A solid icon means successful reception.
  • Once the signal is received, the time, date, and day will automatically set.

Important Note: The radio-controlled signal may be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled annual maintenance. Please refer to product information for specific dates if automatic synchronization fails.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Manual Time Setting

If the radio-controlled signal is not available or you prefer to set the time manually:

  1. Press and hold the TIME button until the hour display starts flashing.
  2. Use the UP (▲) or DOWN (▼) buttons to adjust the hour.
  3. Press the TIME button again to confirm the hour and move to minute setting.
  4. Use the UP (▲) or DOWN (▼) buttons to adjust the minutes.
  5. Press the TIME button once more to confirm and exit time setting mode.

6.2 Setting Date and Day

The date and day are usually set automatically with the radio signal. If manual adjustment is needed:

  1. In time setting mode (see 6.1), after setting minutes, press TIME again to cycle through year, month, and day settings.
  2. Use the UP (▲) or DOWN (▼) buttons to adjust the values.
  3. Press TIME to confirm each setting and move to the next, then to exit.

6.3 Setting Alarms (Alarm 1 and Alarm 2)

The clock features two independent alarm settings.

  1. Press the ALARM button once to view Alarm 1 time. Press again to view Alarm 2 time.
  2. While viewing the desired alarm (e.g., Alarm 1), press and hold the ALARM button until the alarm hour starts flashing.
  3. Use the UP (▲) or DOWN (▼) buttons to adjust the alarm hour.
  4. Press the ALARM button again to confirm the hour and move to alarm minute setting.
  5. Use the UP (▲) or DOWN (▼) buttons to adjust the alarm minutes.
  6. Press the ALARM button once more to confirm and exit alarm setting mode.
  7. To activate an alarm, slide the corresponding Alarm ON/OFF switch (Alarm 1 or Alarm 2) on the rear of the clock to the "ON" position. An alarm icon will appear on the display.

6.4 Snooze Function and Backlight

  • Snooze: When an alarm sounds, press the large SNOOZE/LIGHT button on the top of the clock. The alarm will pause for approximately 5-10 minutes and then sound again.
  • Backlight: Press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button at any time to illuminate the green backlight for a few seconds.

6.5 Temperature Display (°C/°F)

Press the °C/°F button on the front panel to switch the indoor temperature display between Celsius and Fahrenheit.

6.6 12/24 Hour Format

Press the 12/24 button on the front panel to toggle the time display between 12-hour (with AM/PM indicator) and 24-hour formats.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

Wipe the clock with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners, sprays, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the finish or internal components.

7.2 Battery Replacement

When the display becomes dim or the clock stops functioning, it's time to replace the batteries. Follow the steps in Section 5.1 for battery installation. Always replace both AA batteries at the same time.

8. Troubleshooting
