7. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity of your coffee maker.

7.1. Daily Cleaning

  • Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray daily.
  • Milk Tank and Frother: After each use, remove the milk tank and store any remaining milk in the refrigerator. Disassemble the frother components and wash them with warm, soapy water. Run the 'Clean' cycle on the machine to flush the internal milk lines.
  • Portafilter and Filter Baskets: Remove and rinse after each use.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

7.2. Descaling

Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) can build up in the machine, affecting performance. Descale your machine regularly, depending on water hardness and usage (e.g., every 2-3 months).

  1. Empty the water tank and fill it with a descaling solution mixed according to the manufacturer's instructions, or a solution of white vinegar and water (1:1 ratio).
  2. Place a large container under the coffee spout and another under the milk frother spout.
  3. Run several cycles of espresso and milk frothing (using the 'Foam' button with the descaling solution in the milk tank) until the water tank is empty.
