3. Setup and Initial Adjustments

3.1 Attaching the Neck Strap

Thread the neck strap through the strap lugs on the binocular body. Ensure it is securely fastened to prevent accidental drops.

3.2 Adjusting Interpupillary Distance

Hold the binocular with both hands and look through the eyepieces. Adjust the distance between the two barrels until you see a single, circular field of view. This ensures proper alignment with your eyes.

3.3 Adjusting Eyecups

The Monarch HG features turn-and-slide rubber eyecups. Rotate the eyecups up or down to achieve the optimal eye relief. If you wear eyeglasses, keep the eyecups fully retracted. If you do not wear eyeglasses, extend the eyecups to a comfortable position that blocks out peripheral light.

3.4 Diopter Adjustment

The diopter adjustment compensates for differences in vision between your left and right eyes. To adjust:

1. Close your right eye or cover the right objective lens.
2. Look through the left eyepiece with your left eye and rotate the center focus wheel until the image is sharp.
3. Close your left eye or cover the left objective lens.
4. Look through the right eyepiece with your right eye and rotate the diopter adjustment ring (located on the right eyepiece) until the image is sharp.
5. Once adjusted, lock the diopter ring by pushing it inwards.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Focusing

After performing the initial diopter adjustment, use the large center focus wheel to bring objects into sharp focus. The Field Flattener Lens System ensures that the entire field of view remains sharp from edge to edge.

5.1 Cleaning Lenses

To clean the lenses, first, gently brush off any dust or debris using a soft lens brush or a can of compressed air. Then, use a clean microfiber lens cloth and a small amount of lens cleaning fluid (specifically designed for optics) to wipe the lenses in a circular motion. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these can damage the coatings.
