Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your CO-Z DMX controller, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Regularly wipe the surface of the controller with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and then dry thoroughly. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or strong chemicals, as these can damage the finish and internal components.
- Dust Removal: Use compressed air to gently clear dust from faders, buttons, and ventilation openings. Accumulation of dust can affect performance and lead to overheating.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the controller in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. It is recommended to keep it in its original packaging or a protective case to prevent damage.
- Cable Management: Ensure DMX and power cables are not kinked, pinched, or under excessive strain. Proper cable management prevents damage to connectors and internal wiring.
- Avoid Liquids: Keep the controller away from liquids. Spills can cause short circuits and permanent damage.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your CO-Z DMX controller, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Power:
- Ensure the power cord is securely connected to both the controller and a working electrical outlet.
- Check if the "On/Off" switch on the rear panel is in the "On" position.
- Verify the power outlet is functional by plugging in another device.
- Lights Not Responding:
- Check all DMX cable connections. Ensure they are securely plugged into the DMX output of the controller and the DMX input of your fixtures.
- Verify that your lighting fixtures are set to the correct DMX address and mode, matching the channels you are controlling on the console.
- Ensure the "Blackout" function is not active on the controller.
- Test with a single fixture to isolate the issue.
- Erratic Light Behavior:
- Check for loose DMX connections or damaged cables.
- Ensure proper DMX termination if you have a long DMX chain or are experiencing signal issues.
- Verify that no two fixtures are set to the same DMX address if they are intended to be controlled independently.
- Faders/Buttons Unresponsive:
- Ensure the controller is not in a locked or specific programming mode that prevents live control.
- Gently clean around the faders and buttons to remove any debris.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact CO-Z customer support for further assistance.
