The Seaflo Series 33 is a versatile on-demand positive displacement diaphragm pump designed for general purpose use. It delivers reliable performance in high-pressure, high-flow water applications. This 3-chamber diaphragm pump provides up to 3.0 gallons per minute (GPM) and is capable of self-priming up to 6 vertical feet. It can operate dry without damage, making it suitable for various demanding environments.

This pump is designed to serve 3 or more 1/2-inch (13 mm) outlets. It features an automatic demand water system with a built-in pressure switch that automatically starts and stops the pump when a faucet is opened or closed. The Series 33 pump is engineered for easy installation, maintenance, and winterization.

4. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of your Seaflo Series 33 pump. Ensure all connections are secure and leak-free.

4.1 Mounting

  • Mount the pump in a dry, well-ventilated area.
  • The pump can be mounted in any position, but mounting with the pump head down is recommended to prevent water from entering the motor in case of a leak.
  • Use the semi-rigid rubber feet to minimize vibration and noise.

4.2 Plumbing Connections

  • Connect the inlet side of the pump to your water source and the outlet side to your distribution system.
  • The pump features 1/2 inch - 14 MNPT ports. Use appropriate fittings to connect to your plumbing.
  • Install a filter on the inlet side to prevent debris from entering the pump, especially if the water source is not perfectly clean.
  • Ensure all connections are tight to prevent air leaks, which can affect priming and performance.

4.3 Electrical Connections

  • Connect the pump to a 12V DC power source.
  • Ensure the power source can provide the maximum amperage draw of 8.0 A.
  • Install a 12.0 A fuse in the positive (+) power line to protect the pump and electrical system.
  • Use the provided 16 AWG wires and 2-pin connector for electrical hookup. Ensure correct polarity.

5. Operating Instructions

The Seaflo Series 33 pump is designed for automatic, on-demand operation.

  1. Initial Priming: Once installed and connected, open a faucet in your system to allow air to escape. Turn on the power to the pump. The pump will begin to run and self-prime. It may take a few moments for water to flow steadily and for all air to be purged from the lines.
  2. Automatic Operation: The built-in pressure switch will detect when water is demanded (e.g., by opening a faucet) and automatically start the pump. When the faucet is closed and the system pressure reaches the cut-off setting (45 PSI), the pump will automatically shut off.
  3. Adjusting Pressure Switch: The pressure switch is factory set. If adjustment is needed, consult a qualified technician. The adjustment screw is typically located under the top end cap.
  4. Dry Running: The pump is capable of running dry without damage, but prolonged dry running should be avoided to conserve power and prevent unnecessary wear.

Important: Ensure your water tank always has sufficient water to prevent the pump from running dry for extended periods.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your Seaflo Series 33 pump.

6.1 Routine Checks

  • Inspect Connections: Periodically check all plumbing and electrical connections for leaks or corrosion. Tighten as necessary.
  • Clean Inlet Filter: If an inline filter is installed, regularly check and clean the filter screen to prevent blockages and maintain optimal flow.
  • Check for Debris: Ensure the area around the pump is clear of debris that could obstruct airflow to the motor.

6.2 Winterization

If the pump will be exposed to freezing temperatures, it must be properly winterized to prevent damage.

  • Drain all water from the pump and plumbing system.
  • Disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses and allow the pump to run briefly (a few seconds) to expel any remaining water.
  • Alternatively, flush the system with non-toxic RV antifreeze.
