2. Components Overview
Familiarize yourself with the main components of your Viper PST Gen II riflescope:

This diagram labels the primary parts of the riflescope, including the Fast Focus Eyepiece, Magnification Adjustment Ring, Illumination Dial, Elevation Adjustment Dial, Windage Adjustment Dial, and Objective Lens.
- Fast Focus Eyepiece: Used to adjust the reticle focus.
- Magnification Adjustment Ring: Adjusts the magnification from 1x to 6x.
- Illumination Dial: Controls the brightness of the illuminated reticle, offering 10 intensity levels with 'off' positions between each setting.
- Elevation Adjustment Dial: Used for vertical point-of-impact adjustments. Features laser-etched turrets and RZR zero stop.
- Windage Adjustment Dial: Used for horizontal point-of-impact adjustments. Features laser-etched turrets.
- Objective Lens: The front lens of the riflescope, gathering light for a clear image.
3. Setup
3.1 Mounting the Riflescope
Proper mounting is crucial for optimal performance. We highly recommend using an inch/pound torque screwdriver for mounting. DO NOT exceed 18 inch/pounds of torque on the ring's screws to prevent damage.
3.2 Battery Installation
The illuminated reticle requires a CR2032 battery. The battery housing is located on the left side of the optic. Carefully unscrew the cap, insert the CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing outwards, and secure the cap.
3.3 Fast Focus Eyepiece Adjustment
To ensure a sharp reticle image, look through the eyepiece at a plain, bright background (like a wall or clear sky). Rotate the fast focus eyepiece (located at the rear of the scope) clockwise or counter-clockwise until the reticle appears crisp and sharp. This adjustment is personal and should be set before zeroing.

4. Operating the Riflescope
4.1 Magnification Adjustment
Rotate the magnification adjustment ring to select your desired magnification level between 1x and 6x. The ring may feel stiff initially but will loosen with use. A throw lever (not included) can assist with quicker adjustments.
4.2 Illumination Control
The illumination dial on the left side of the riflescope controls the brightness of the VMR-2 (MOA) reticle. It offers 10 intensity levels. To turn off the illumination, rotate the dial to any of the 'off' positions located between each numbered setting. This allows for quick activation to a preferred brightness level without cycling through all settings.

4.3 Elevation and Windage Adjustments
The elevation and windage turrets allow for precise point-of-impact adjustments. Each click provides 1/2 MOA adjustment. The turrets are tactile and audible for precise feedback. The RZR zero stop feature ensures accurate returns to your established zero after making temporary adjustments for bullet drop or wind compensation.
4.4 Reticle Details
The VMR-2 (MOA) reticle provides highly functional, intuitive, and detailed hold points while remaining uncluttered for optimal viewing. It is a second focal plane reticle, meaning its size remains constant regardless of magnification, while the subtensions change relative to the target size.

This image shows the VMR-2 (MOA) reticle as seen through the riflescope, demonstrating its clear and detailed design for precise aiming.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning the Lenses
Use the provided lens cloth or a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe away dust and loose debris from the lenses. For stubborn smudges or fingerprints, use a lens cleaning solution and a clean lens cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the lens coatings.
5.2 General Care
Store the riflescope in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. When not in use, ensure lens caps are in place to protect the glass. The Armortek coating provides additional protection against scratches, oil, and dirt, but proper handling is always recommended.
6. Troubleshooting
- Blurred Reticle: Adjust the fast focus eyepiece until the reticle is sharp.
- Blurred Image: Ensure the magnification is set appropriately for your target distance.
- Illumination Not Working: Check if the CR2032 battery is correctly installed and has sufficient charge. Replace if necessary. Ensure the illumination dial is not set to an 'off' position.
- Difficulty Adjusting Turrets/Magnification: New scopes may have stiff controls. Continued use will typically loosen them. A throw lever can aid magnification adjustment.
