5. Operating Instructions
Zooming
To adjust the focal length, rotate the zoom ring on the lens. The markings on the lens indicate the current focal length (100mm, 150mm, 200mm, 250mm, 300mm). Extend the lens to zoom in and retract it to zoom out.
Focusing
This lens supports both autofocus (AF) and manual focus (MF). The focus mode is typically controlled via your camera body settings. For autofocus, ensure your camera is set to AF mode. For manual focus, switch your camera to MF mode and rotate the focus ring on the lens to achieve sharp focus.
Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.)
The lens features a POWER O.I.S. switch. Set the switch to 'ON' to activate the optical image stabilization, which helps reduce blur caused by camera shake, especially at longer focal lengths. If your camera body supports Dual I.S. 2.0, activating O.I.S. on the lens will work in conjunction with the camera's in-body stabilization for enhanced stability.

6. Maintenance and Care
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your lens.
- Cleaning the Lens: Use a soft, lint-free cloth or a lens brush to remove dust. For smudges, use a specialized lens cleaning solution and a microfiber cloth. Avoid touching the lens elements directly with your fingers.
- Storage: When not in use, store the lens with both caps attached in a dry, cool place, preferably in the provided storage bag, to prevent dust and moisture accumulation.
- Handling: Avoid exposing the lens to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight for extended periods. Do not drop or subject the lens to strong impacts.
- Weather Sealing: While splash-proof and dustproof, avoid intentionally exposing the lens to heavy rain or submersion in water.
7. Troubleshooting Common Issues
If you encounter any issues with your lens, refer to the table below for potential solutions.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Images are blurry/unsharp | Camera shake, incorrect focus, O.I.S. off | Ensure O.I.S. is ON. Check camera focus settings (AF/MF). Use a higher shutter speed or tripod if necessary. |
| Autofocus is slow or hunts | Low light conditions, low contrast subject, dirty lens contacts | Ensure sufficient lighting. Focus on a high-contrast area. Clean lens and camera body contacts. |
| Lens not recognized by camera | Improper attachment, dirty contacts, firmware issue | Re-attach lens securely. Clean lens and camera body contacts. Check for camera/lens firmware updates. |
| Dust or spots visible in images | Dust on lens elements or camera sensor | Clean lens elements carefully. If spots persist, dust may be on the camera sensor, requiring professional cleaning. |
