Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Breville Steam Zone Food Steamer.

  1. Daily Cleaning: After each use, unplug the steamer and allow it to cool completely. Remove the steaming tray, baskets, lids, and drip tray. Wash these components in warm, soapy water or place them in the dishwasher (top rack recommended).
  2. Base Unit Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the steamer base with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the base in water.
  3. Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits may build up in the water tank. The steamer may indicate when descaling is required. Follow the instructions in the full instruction book for the descaling procedure, typically involving a vinegar or citric acid solution.
  4. Storage: Ensure all parts are clean and dry before storing the steamer. Store in a cool, dry place.

Troubleshooting

  • Steamer not turning on: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into both the appliance and a working electrical outlet. Check your household's circuit breaker.
  • No steam or insufficient steam: Verify that the water tank is filled to the appropriate level. If the water level is too low, the steamer may not generate steam effectively.
  • Food not cooking evenly: Ensure food items are arranged in a single layer and not overcrowded. For dual zone cooking, confirm appropriate steam settings for each zone.
  • Water leaking from base: Check that the drip tray is correctly seated and not overflowing. Ensure all components are assembled properly.
  • Display showing error code or flashing: Refer to the full instruction manual for specific error code meanings and troubleshooting steps. Often, this indicates a low water level or a need for descaling.
