4. Setup

4.1 Beurer BM 35 Blood Pressure Monitor

1. Insert Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the back of the device. Insert 4 x 1.5V AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment.
2. Connect Cuff: Insert the air tube connector of the cuff into the port on the left side of the blood pressure monitor.
3. Set Date and Time: After inserting batteries, the device will prompt you to set the date and time. Use the user selection buttons (+/-) to adjust values and the M button to confirm and move to the next setting.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Blood Pressure Measurement with BM 35

1. Preparation: Rest for at least 5 minutes before measurement. Avoid eating, drinking, smoking, or exercising for 30 minutes prior. Sit upright with your feet flat on the floor and your arm resting comfortably on a table.
2. Cuff Placement: Place the cuff on your bare upper arm, approximately 2-3 cm above the elbow joint. The air tube should run along the inside of your arm. Ensure the cuff is snug but not too tight.

3. Start Measurement: Press the START/STOP button. The cuff will inflate automatically, and the measurement will begin. Remain still and do not talk during the measurement.
4. Reading Results: Once the measurement is complete, the systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate will be displayed. The device also indicates irregular heart rhythm (if detected) and a color-coded risk indicator.

5. Memory Function: The device automatically stores measurements for two users (60 memory spaces each). Press the M button to view stored readings. Use the user selection buttons (+/-) to switch between users.
6. Power Off: The device will automatically switch off after approximately one minute of inactivity. You can also press the START/STOP button to turn it off manually.

5.2 Temperature Measurement with FT 09/1

1. Turn On: Press the ON/OFF button. A short beep will sound, and the display will show the last measured temperature for approximately 2 seconds, followed by 'L°C' (or 'L°F') and a flashing '°C' (or '°F').
2. Measurement: Place the measurement tip in the desired position (oral, axillary, or rectal).

3. Reading Results: The temperature is measured continuously. A long beep will sound when the final temperature is reached (usually within 10-40 seconds, depending on the measurement site). The measured value will be displayed.
4. Memory Function: The last measured temperature is automatically stored.
5. Power Off: The thermometer will automatically switch off after approximately 10 minutes of inactivity. You can also press the ON/OFF button to turn it off manually.

6. Maintenance and Care

6.1 Cleaning

• BM 35 Monitor: Clean the device and cuff carefully with a slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.
• FT 09/1 Thermometer: The thermometer is waterproof and can be disinfected. Clean the measurement tip with a cotton swab moistened with alcohol or cold water. Do not boil the thermometer.

6.2 Storage

• Store both devices in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• Keep the BM 35 in its storage bag when not in use.
• Keep the FT 09/1 in its protective cap.

6.3 Battery Replacement

• BM 35 Monitor: When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace all four AA batteries with new ones.
