Product Overview
The Monoprice Unity 100-Watt Power Amplifier is a versatile Class D amplifier featuring:
- Power Output: 50 watts/channel (RMS) into 8 Ohm loads or 65 watts/channel into 4-ohm loads.
- Bridgeable Output: Provides 120 watts into a single 8-ohm load.
- Speaker Connectors: 4-pole detachable Euroblock connectors supporting up to 12 AWG speaker wire.
- 12V Trigger: Includes both a 12-volt trigger input for automatic power-on/off and a 12-volt trigger output for controlling other devices.
- Buffered Loop Output: Allows connection of additional amplifiers by passing through the original signal.
- Volume Control: Rear panel volume gain adjustment for fine-tuning output levels.
- Protection Circuits: Built-in thermal and short circuit protection for enhanced safety and durability.
- Design: Compact form factor with included rack-mount ears for flexible installation.

Setup
Before making any connections, ensure the amplifier is powered off and disconnected from the AC outlet.
Connecting Audio Sources
- Connect your audio source (e.g., pre-amplifier, receiver) to the IN LINE OUT RCA jacks on the rear panel using appropriate RCA cables.
- If connecting additional amplifiers in a daisy-chain configuration, use the OUT LINE OUT RCA jacks to pass the audio signal to the next amplifier.
Connecting Speakers
The amplifier utilizes 4-pole detachable Euroblock connectors for speaker connections. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -) for all connections.
- For Stereo (4Ω or 8Ω): Connect speaker wires to the L+ L- R+ R- terminals. Set the OUTPUT SEL switch to '4Ω' or '8Ω' depending on your speaker impedance.
- For Bridged (8Ω): Connect a single 8-ohm speaker to the L+ and R+ terminals. Set the OUTPUT SEL switch to 'Bridge'.
- The amplifier supports speaker wire up to 12 AWG. Strip approximately 8-10mm of insulation from the speaker wire ends before inserting them into the Euroblock connector and tightening the screws.
Power Connection
Connect the supplied AC power cord to the amplifier's AC inlet and then to a standard wall outlet (100-240V, 50/60Hz).
12V Trigger Connection (Optional)
- To use the 12V trigger feature, connect a 12V trigger cable from your source device (e.g., AV receiver) to the TRIGGER IN port on the amplifier.
- To control other devices (e.g., another amplifier or screen), connect a 12V trigger cable from the amplifier's TRIGGER OUT port to the controlled device's trigger input.

Operating Instructions
Power Modes
The amplifier offers three power modes, selectable via the POWER switch on the rear panel:
- ON: The amplifier remains continuously powered on.
- TRIGGER: The amplifier powers on/off in response to a 12V trigger signal connected to the TRIGGER IN port.
- AUTO: The amplifier powers on automatically when an audio signal is detected and enters standby when no signal is present for a period.
Volume Adjustment
A volume gain adjustment knob is located on the rear panel. This is a 'set-and-forget' control, typically adjusted with a small screwdriver, to balance the amplifier's output with other components in your system. Adjust this to achieve desired sound levels without distortion.
Output Selection (Bridged/Stereo)
Use the OUTPUT SEL switch on the rear panel to select between stereo (4Ω or 8Ω) or bridged (8Ω) output modes. Ensure this setting accurately matches your speaker configuration to prevent damage to the amplifier or speakers.
Maintenance
- Keep the amplifier clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners, as they may damage the finish or internal components.
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating. Do not place the amplifier in an enclosed space without proper airflow.
- Regularly check all cable connections for security and ensure they are free from corrosion or damage.
- If the unit is not in use for an extended period, disconnect it from the power outlet.
Troubleshooting
No Power
- Check if the power cord is securely connected to both the amplifier and a functional wall outlet.
- Verify the POWER switch on the rear panel is set to 'ON', 'TRIGGER' (with an active trigger signal), or 'AUTO' (with an audio signal present).
No Sound
- Check all audio input and speaker connections for proper seating and correct polarity.
- Verify the audio source is active and producing sound.
- Adjust the rear panel volume gain control. Ensure it is not set to minimum.
- Ensure the OUTPUT SEL switch matches your speaker impedance and configuration (stereo or bridged).
Humming or Buzzing Noise
- Ensure all audio cables are properly shielded and securely connected.
- If using the 12V trigger, try disconnecting the trigger cable and using the 'AUTO' power mode instead, as some trigger setups can introduce noise.
- Check for ground loops. Try connecting all audio equipment to the same power strip.
- Adjust the rear panel volume gain control; sometimes lowering it can reduce hiss or hum, though it may reduce maximum output.
Overheating
- Ensure the amplifier has sufficient ventilation. Do not block the top or side vents.
- Reduce the volume level if the unit feels excessively hot.
- The amplifier has built-in thermal protection and may shut down if it overheats. Allow it to cool down before resuming operation.
