- Positive (+) and Negative (-) Terminals: Connection points for the battery cables.
- Ground Wire Terminal: For connecting the inverter to a proper ground.
5. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for safe and efficient operation. Follow these steps carefully:
- Preparation: Ensure the inverter is turned OFF. Disconnect the positive battery terminal of your vehicle's battery before making any connections to the inverter.
- Mounting: Place the inverter in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. The unit has four small notches on each of the bottom corners for mounting.
- Grounding: Connect one end of the green/yellow ground wire to the ground terminal on the inverter. Connect the other end to a solid chassis ground point on your vehicle or a dedicated earth ground if used stationary. Ensure a solid connection.
- Battery Connections:
- Connect the red battery cable to the positive (+) terminal on the inverter. Ensure it is tight.
- Connect the black battery cable to the negative (-) terminal on the inverter. Ensure it is tight.
- Connect the other end of the red battery cable to the positive (+) terminal of your 12V battery. Ensure a solid connection.
- Connect the other end of the black battery cable to the negative (-) terminal of your 12V battery. Ensure a solid connection.
- Final Check: Double-check all connections to ensure they are secure and correctly polarized.

This image shows the rear of the inverter with the red cable connected to the positive terminal, the black cable to the negative terminal, and the green/yellow wire connected to the ground screw. Two cooling fans are also visible.
6. Operating Instructions
Once properly installed, the inverter is ready for use:
- Power On: Flip the ON/OFF switch on the front panel to the "ON" position. The LED power indicator should illuminate.
- Connect Devices: Plug your AC devices into the AC outlets or USB devices into the USB ports. Ensure the total wattage of your devices does not exceed the inverter's rated continuous power (1500W).
- Power Off: When finished, turn off all connected devices, then flip the ON/OFF switch on the inverter to the "OFF" position.
Important Considerations:
- For optimal performance and to prevent battery drain, it is recommended to operate the inverter with the vehicle's engine running, especially when powering high-wattage devices.
- The cooling fan will automatically activate when needed. This is normal operation.

7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your inverter:
- Keep the inverter clean and free from dust and debris. Use a dry cloth for cleaning.
- Ensure ventilation openings are not obstructed. Periodically check for dust buildup in the fan area and clean if necessary.
- Check all electrical connections regularly to ensure they remain tight and free from corrosion.
- Store the inverter in a cool, dry place when not in use.
8. Troubleshooting
If the inverter is not operating correctly, refer to the following table for common issues and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No output voltage / Inverter not turning on | Loose battery connections; Low battery voltage; Blown fuse; Overload protection activated. | Check and tighten all connections; Recharge or replace battery; Check and replace internal fuses (if applicable, refer to professional); Reduce load. |
| Inverter shuts down frequently | Overload; Overheating; Low/High input voltage. | Reduce load; Ensure proper ventilation, clean fans; Check battery voltage and charging system. |
| Fan not running | Normal operation (fan only runs when temperature exceeds 104℉); Fan malfunction. | Monitor temperature; If inverter is hot and fan is not running, contact support. |
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, contact POTEK customer service for assistance.
