Model: RD-901

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and effective use of your TANITA RD-901 InnerScan PRO Multi-Frequency Body Composition Monitor. The RD-901 utilizes advanced Bioelectric Impedance Analysis (BIA) technology to provide comprehensive body composition measurements. This device is FDA cleared and designed for consumer use to help monitor various health metrics.

2. Important Safety Information

WARNING:

  • Individuals with an electronic medical implant, such as a pacemaker, should NOT use this scale. The Bioelectric Impedance Analysis (BIA) technology passes a low-level electrical signal through the body, which may interfere with the operation of such implants.
  • Pregnant women should only use the weight function of this device. Other body composition functions are not intended for use during pregnancy.
  • Always place the scale on a hard, flat surface for accurate measurements. Using it on carpet or uneven surfaces may lead to inaccurate readings.
  • Ensure your feet are bare and clean when stepping on the scale to allow proper contact with the electrodes for BIA measurements.

  • Athlete Mode: Provides more accurate readings for individuals who engage in intense physical activity, typically 10 hours or more per week, and have a resting heart rate of 60 beats per minute or less. This mode adjusts the BIA algorithm for athletic body types.

6. Understanding Your Measurements

The TANITA RD-901 provides 11 body composition readings:

  • Weight: Your total body mass.
  • Body Fat Percentage: The proportion of fat to your total body weight.
  • Muscle Mass: The total weight of muscle in your body.

When the battery indicator appears on the display, replace all four AA batteries with new ones. Ensure correct polarity during installation.

7.3 Storage

Store the scale in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid placing heavy objects on the scale when not in use.
