Jebao DCP-5000 Sine Wave Water Return Pump Instruction Manual

1. Introduction

The Jebao DCP-5000 Sine Wave Water Return Pump is designed to provide enhanced performance and precise flow control for aquarium systems, including reactors, sumps, and closed-loop setups. This pump features innovative electronics for energy efficiency, a super quiet operation, and a durable ceramic shaft for extended life. It is designed for internal use only and contains no copper components, ensuring safety for aquatic environments.

The included DCP Controller allows for complete flow adjustment and features a 10-minute feed mode. The pump also incorporates motor protection in case of rotor blockage and a memory function to recall settings after a power supply interruption.

2. Safety Instructions

  • Read all instructions carefully before installation and operation.
  • This pump is designed for internal use only within an aquarium or sump. Do not use it outside of water.
  • Ensure the power supply voltage matches the pump's requirements (110-120V 60Hz).
  • Always disconnect the power supply before performing any maintenance, installation, or cleaning.
  • Do not operate the pump if the power cord or plug is damaged.
  • Keep the controller and power adapter dry and away from water.
  • Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks.
  • Do not run the pump dry. Always ensure the pump is fully submerged in water during operation.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

4. Installation and Setup

  1. Choose Location: Place the pump in your aquarium sump or desired water reservoir, ensuring it is fully submerged.
  2. Connect Fittings: Select the appropriate in-line fittings for your plumbing system. Securely attach them to the pump's inlet and outlet. Ensure a watertight seal.
  3. Connect to Controller: Connect the pump's cable to the DCP Controller. Ensure the connection is firm.
  4. Connect Power: Plug the power adapter into the DCP Controller, then plug the power adapter into a suitable electrical outlet.
  5. Initial Start-up: Once connected and submerged, the pump will power on. The controller display will illuminate.

5. Operation

5.1. Controller Functions

The DCP Controller allows you to adjust the pump's flow rate and activate special modes.

  • Power On/Off: The pump powers on when connected to electricity. To turn off, disconnect from the power source.
  • Adjust Flow Rate: Use the 'Up' (▲) and 'Down' (▼) arrow buttons to increase or decrease the pump's output. The display shows the current power level (P001 to P009, or similar depending on model).
  • Feed Mode: Press the 'Pause' (▌▌) button to activate the 10-minute feed mode. The pump will temporarily shut off, allowing fish to feed without being disturbed by water flow. After 10 minutes, the pump will automatically resume its previous operation. Pressing the 'Pause' button again during feed mode will immediately resume normal operation.
  • Memory Function: The pump retains its last set flow rate even after a power interruption.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your pump.

  1. Disconnect Power: Always unplug the pump from the power outlet before any maintenance.
  2. Disassembly: Carefully remove the pump from the water. Disconnect any tubing and unscrew the pump housing to access the impeller and ceramic shaft.
  3. Cleaning Impeller and Shaft: Remove the impeller and ceramic shaft. Clean all components with a soft brush and warm water to remove any debris, algae, or mineral buildup. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  4. Housing Cleaning: Clean the pump housing and inlet/outlet screens to ensure unrestricted water flow.
  5. Reassembly: Reassemble the pump, ensuring all parts are correctly seated and the housing is securely fastened.
  6. Regular Inspection: Periodically check the power cord for any damage and ensure all connections are secure.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Pump Not Starting:
    • Check if the power adapter is securely plugged into both the controller and the wall outlet.
    • Ensure the pump cable is firmly connected to the controller.
    • Verify that the power outlet is functional.
    • Inspect the impeller for any blockages or damage. Clean if necessary.
  • Reduced Flow Rate:
    • Check for blockages in the pump's inlet, outlet, or tubing.
    • Clean the impeller and pump housing for any debris or buildup.
    • Ensure the controller's flow setting is at the desired level.
  • Unusual Noise:
    • Disconnect power and inspect the impeller for foreign objects or damage.
    • Ensure the pump is fully submerged and not running dry.
    • Check for proper seating of the impeller and ceramic shaft.
  • Error Codes (e.g., P4):
    • Error codes often indicate a blocked rotor or impeller issue. Disconnect power, remove the pump, and thoroughly clean the impeller and its chamber.
    • If the issue persists after cleaning, the impeller or controller may require replacement.
