Operating Instructions

1. Preparing a Specimen Slide

  • For Prepared Slides: Simply place a prepared slide onto the stage.
  • For Blank Slides: Use the provided tools (pipette, tweezers, scalpel) to place a small, thin specimen onto a blank slide. Add a drop of water if necessary, and cover with a coverslip.

2. Placing the Slide

Place the prepared slide onto the microscope stage. Use the stage clips to secure the slide in place.

3. Adjusting Illumination

Ensure adequate lighting for your specimen. Use the built-in LED light for direct illumination or adjust the reflecting mirror to capture ambient light.

Microscope Illumination Options

4. Selecting Magnification

Rotate the revolving nosepiece to select an objective lens. Start with the lowest magnification (e.g., 120X) to locate your specimen, then switch to higher magnifications as needed. The total magnification is the eyepiece magnification multiplied by the objective lens magnification.

  • Available Magnifications: 120X, 240X, 300X, 480X, 600X, 1200X.

5. Focusing

  1. Look through the eyepiece.
  2. Slowly turn the coarse focus knob to bring the specimen into approximate focus.
  3. Use the fine focus knob for precise focusing and to achieve a clear image.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning Lenses: Use a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for optical lenses to clean the eyepieces and objective lenses. Do not use abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
  • Cleaning Body: Wipe the microscope body with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid getting moisture into electrical components.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the microscope in its carrying case in a dry, dust-free environment. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
  • Handling: Always carry the microscope by its metal arm and base. Avoid sudden impacts or dropping the instrument.

Troubleshooting
