1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the BIOS Weather Colour Weather Station, Model 386BC. 3. Setup

3.1 Powering the Main Unit

The main unit can be powered by the included power adapter or by batteries (not included).

1. Using the Power Adapter: Insert the small end of the power adapter into the DC IN port on the back of the main unit. Plug the other end into a standard electrical outlet. The display will illuminate.
2. Using Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the back of the main unit. Insert 3 x AAA batteries (not included) according to the polarity markings (+/-). Close the compartment. The display will illuminate.

Note: Using the power adapter is recommended for continuous display illumination. Batteries provide backup power or portable operation.

3.2 Installing Batteries in the Outdoor Sensor

The outdoor sensor requires 2 x AA batteries (not included).

1. Open the battery compartment on the back of the outdoor sensor.
2. Insert 2 x AA batteries according to the polarity markings (+/-).
3. Close the compartment securely to ensure weather resistance.

3.3 Pairing the Outdoor Sensor

Once both units are powered, the main unit will automatically attempt to connect with the outdoor sensor. The outdoor temperature and humidity readings should appear on the main unit's display within a few minutes.

• If the outdoor readings do not appear, press and hold the "CHANNEL" or "SEARCH" button (refer to specific button labels on your unit) on the main unit to initiate a manual search for the sensor.
• Ensure the outdoor sensor is within the wireless transmission range (up to 70 meters / 230 feet) and away from major sources of interference.

3.4 Placement Recommendations

• Main Unit: Place the main unit indoors on a flat surface, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and drafts, which can affect indoor temperature readings.
• Outdoor Sensor: Mount the outdoor sensor in a shaded area, protected from direct rain and sunlight, to ensure accurate temperature and humidity readings. Avoid placing it near metal structures or large electrical appliances that could interfere with the wireless signal.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Display Overview

The main unit's color display provides the following information:

• Time and Date: Current time, month, date, and weekday.
• Indoor Temperature & Humidity: Readings from the main unit's internal sensors.

4.2 Setting Time and Date

3. Press "MODE" or "SET" again to confirm the hour and move to minutes. Repeat to set minutes, year, month, and date.

  • Ensure the outdoor sensor is within the 70m (230ft) wireless range of the main unit.
  • Reduce obstacles between the sensor and main unit (e.g., thick walls, metal objects).
  • Press and hold the "CHANNEL" or "SEARCH" button on the main unit to re-establish connection.
  • Avoid placing the sensor near sources of electromagnetic interference (e.g., TVs, computers, microwaves).
• Inaccurate Temperature/Humidity Readings:
  • Ensure both units are placed away from direct sunlight, heat sources, or drafts.
  • Allow sufficient time (at least 30 minutes) for the sensors to stabilize after initial setup or relocation.
• Weather Forecast Inaccurate:
  • The weather forecast is based on barometric pressure changes and is an estimation. It may not always perfectly match local weather service forecasts.
