Key Components:

4. Setup

4.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection

  1. Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Check for any visible damage or missing parts. Contact your dealer if any issues are found.
  3. Ensure all protective covers are removed.

4.2 Fuel and Chain Oil Preparation

The CS33EB uses a 2-stroke engine and requires a specific fuel mixture and chain lubricant.

4.3 Filling Tanks

  1. Place the chain saw on a flat, stable surface.
  2. Clean the area around the fuel and oil caps to prevent dirt from entering the tanks.
  3. Carefully pour the prepared fuel mixture into the fuel tank (marked with a fuel pump icon).
  4. Pour the chain lubricant oil into the oil tank (marked with an oil drop icon).
  5. Securely tighten both caps. Wipe up any spills immediately.

4.4 Chain Tension Adjustment

Correct chain tension is crucial for safe and efficient operation.

  1. Ensure the chain brake is disengaged.
  2. Loosen the bar nuts slightly.
  3. Adjust the chain tensioning screw until the chain fits snugly against the guide bar, but can still be pulled around by hand without binding.
  4. Lift the tip of the guide bar slightly while tightening the bar nuts to ensure even tension.
  5. Re-check tension after tightening. A cold chain should have a slight sag on the underside of the bar, but the drive links should not come out of the bar groove.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Starting the Engine (Cold Start)

  1. Place the chain saw on a firm, flat surface. Ensure the chain brake is engaged.
  2. Push the stop switch to the "ON" position.
  3. Pull the choke lever out fully.
  4. Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible.
  5. Hold the chain saw firmly with one hand on the front handle and place your foot on the rear handle.
  6. Pull the starter handle slowly until resistance is felt, then pull sharply and quickly until the engine fires (usually a few pulls).
  7. As soon as the engine fires, push the choke lever halfway in (half-choke position).
  8. Pull the starter handle again until the engine starts and runs.
  9. Once the engine is running, push the choke lever fully in. Let the engine warm up for a few moments.
  10. Briefly blip the throttle to disengage the fast idle.

5.2 Starting the Engine (Warm Start)

If the engine is warm, the choke may not be needed, or only briefly.

  1. Ensure the chain brake is engaged and the stop switch is "ON".
  2. Pull the starter handle until the engine starts. If it doesn't start after a few pulls, try with the choke lever halfway out.

5.3 Stopping the Engine

To stop the engine, simply push the stop switch to the "OFF" position.

5.4 Basic Cutting Techniques

Always maintain a stable stance and firm grip on both handles. Engage the chain brake when moving between cuts.
