Important Safety Instructions

Setup

Minor assembly is required for the Olde Midway Popcorn Machine. Follow these general steps:

1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Verify all included components are present.
2. Assemble Cart: Attach the legs and wheels to the main cart body. Ensure all connections are secure. The large 16-inch bicycle-style wheels are designed for mobility.
3. Mount Popcorn Machine: Place the popcorn machine unit securely onto the assembled cart.
4. Connect Kettle: Ensure the 8-ounce kettle is properly installed and connected within the machine's interior.
5. Position Machine: Place the assembled popcorn machine in a stable, level location with access to a standard 120-volt power outlet.
6. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wipe down all interior surfaces and the kettle with a damp cloth.

Operating Instructions

The Olde Midway Popcorn Machine features a simple 3-switch operation for convenience.

1. Power On: Plug the machine into a standard 120-volt outlet.
2. Activate Switches: Turn on the three switches located on the top panel. These control the spotlight warmer, stirrer, and pot heater. Allow the kettle to preheat for 3-5 minutes.
3. Add Ingredients: Open the kettle lid. Add 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels and 1 tablespoon of popping oil (e.g., coconut oil, vegetable oil) to the heated kettle. Close the kettle lid.
4. Pop Popcorn: The popcorn will begin to pop within a few minutes. The stirrer will ensure even popping.
5. Empty Kettle: Once popping slows significantly (approximately 95% of kernels popped), carefully use the handle to tilt the kettle and empty the popped corn into the warming deck below.
6. Keep Warm: You can leave the spotlight warmer on to keep the popcorn warm and fresh. Turn off the stirrer and pot heater switches once popping is complete.
7. Serve: Use the included popcorn scoop to serve the fresh popcorn into bags or bowls. The machine features an old maid drawer to catch unpopped kernels.

Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity of your popcorn machine.

1. Unplug and Cool: Always unplug the machine from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
2. Clean Kettle: The kettle can be removed for easy cleaning. Wipe it with a damp cloth and mild soap, then rinse thoroughly. Do not immerse the electrical components of the kettle.
3. Clean Interior: Wipe down the tempered safety glass walls and stainless steel food zones with a damp cloth. For stubborn residue, use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner.
4. Empty Kernel Tray: Remove and empty the old maid drawer (reject kernel tray) regularly.
5. Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the machine and cart with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals that may damage the finish.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your popcorn machine, refer to the following common solutions:

• Machine Not Turning On: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a working outlet. Check the circuit breaker.
• Kettle Not Heating: Verify the pot heater switch is in the 'ON' position. Allow sufficient preheating time (3-5 minutes).
• Popcorn Not Popping: Ensure fresh kernels and adequate oil are used. The kettle may not be hot enough; allow more preheating time.
• Too Many Unpopped Kernels: This can be due to insufficient oil, old kernels, or the kettle not reaching optimal temperature. Ensure the stirrer is functioning.
• Popcorn Burning: Remove popcorn promptly once popping slows. Do not leave popcorn in the hot kettle for extended periods.
