5. Installation
The Steinel XLED Home 2 S is designed for wall mounting. For electrical connections, it is strongly recommended to consult a qualified electrician.
Mounting Steps:
- Choose Location: Select a suitable outdoor location for wall mounting, ensuring the desired detection area is covered by the sensor.
- Prepare Wiring: Ensure the power supply is disconnected at the main circuit breaker. Prepare the electrical wires for connection.
- Mount Base Plate: Secure the floodlight's base plate to the wall using the provided screws and wall plugs. Use spacers if necessary to ensure a flush fit or accommodate wiring.
- Connect Electrical Wires: Connect the live (L), neutral (N), and earth (PE) wires to the corresponding terminals on the floodlight. Ensure connections are secure.
- Attach Floodlight: Carefully attach the floodlight unit to the mounted base plate and secure it with the small screw located at the bottom of the light.
- Restore Power: Once installation is complete and all connections are secure, restore power to the circuit.

6. Operating Instructions
The Steinel XLED Home 2 S features adjustable settings for its motion sensor to customize its operation according to your needs.
Motion Sensor Adjustment:
The motion sensor's settings can be adjusted using the rotary knobs located on the underside of the sensor unit.
- Time Setting (Temporisation): This knob controls how long the light remains on after motion is detected. The adjustable range is typically from 8 seconds to 35 minutes.
- Twilight Setting (Crépuscularité): This knob determines the ambient light level at which the sensor becomes active. The adjustable range is from approximately 2 lux (dark) to 2000 lux (daylight). Set it to a lower lux value for activation only in darker conditions, or a higher value for activation even in brighter conditions.
Adjusting Detection Zone:
The 180° infrared motion sensor can detect movement up to 10 meters. To prevent unwanted activations (e.g., from passing traffic or pets), you can precisely adjust the detection zone.
- Sensor Orientation: The sensor head can be physically rotated vertically by 180° and horizontally by 90° to aim the detection field.
- Detection Zone Covers: Use the provided covers to mask off specific segments of the detection area. Attach these covers to the sensor lens as needed.

7. Maintenance
The Steinel XLED Home 2 S is designed for minimal maintenance. The integrated LEDs have a long lifespan and do not require replacement.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the floodlight's surface and the sensor lens with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the plastic components.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the unit for any signs of damage, loose connections, or wear. If any issues are found, disconnect power and consult a qualified professional.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Steinel XLED Home 2 S, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Light does not turn on. | No power supply; Twilight setting too high; Sensor faulty. | Check circuit breaker; Adjust twilight setting to a lower lux value; Contact support. |
| Light stays on continuously. | Continuous motion in detection zone; Time setting too long; Wiring error. | Adjust detection zone with covers; Reduce time setting; Consult electrician. |
| Light turns on without apparent motion. | Detection zone too wide; Environmental factors (e.g., heat sources, small animals). | Adjust sensor orientation; Use detection zone covers; Relocate if necessary. |
| Light flickers or is dim. | Unstable power supply; Internal fault. | Check electrical connections; Contact support. |
